Organisation: Mercy Hands Europe (MHEU) is an international non-profit organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, since 2019. Our mission is to empower vulnerable populations in disaster-affected areas, including Iraq, Syria, and Ethiopia, through sustainable projects and partnerships. We focus on education, protection, health, justice, agriculture, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), emergency response, and livelihoods.
Position: We are seeking a Public Relations Manager Intern to manage the organization’s public relations efforts and digital presence. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supporting MHEU’s public engagements, advocacy, communications, enhancing its visibility, managing social media platforms, and coordinating events to strengthen our outreach and engagement.
Location: Geneva, Switzerland (on-site)
Duration: 6 months, part-time
Working Hours: 25 hours/week
- In-office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 09:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00
- Remote: Monday and Friday – 09:00–11:00
Please note: The working hours are not negotiable.
Start Date: 3 February 2026
Stipend: CHF 150/month

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Public Relations:

- Support public engagement, advocacy, and fundraising initiatives through strategic planning.
- Strengthen public relations by engaging key stakeholders and building strategic partnerships through active collaboration with associations, organizations, and partners in Geneva.
- Represent MHEU at relevant forums, conferences, and public events to promote our mission and activities.
- Coordinate and implement events (e.g., conferences, workshops, awareness campaigns, networking opportunities) to increase MHEU’s visibility and outreach, including logistics.
- Develop and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other external communications.
- Communication:

- Manage visibility campaigns online and expand MHEU’s social media presence by developing and implementing targeted strategies to increase engagement, reach, and audience interaction.
- Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics to optimize content strategy, stay updated on trends, and suggest innovative ways to boost engagement.
- Supervise and regularly update MHEU’s social media platforms and website.
- Oversee the organization's graphic design and create high-quality videos, infographics, and other visual content to enhance visibility and storytelling.
- Ensure a consistent and creative visual identity across all platforms.
- Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics to optimize content strategy.
- Manage community engagement
- Perform any other tasks related to the responsibilities of the position, as assigned by the Executive Director, Programme Coordinator and Finance and Administrative Manager.
Internship Objectives:
By the end of the internship, you will gain hands-on experience in:
- Expanding public relations efforts through active engagement with stakeholders, partners, and the broader community.
- Developing and implementing effective public relations strategies to engage key stakeholders and strengthen partnerships.
- Planning and organizing events from concept to execution to support outreach, advocacy, and fundraising initiatives.
- Designing and coordinating communications across multiple channels, including digital platforms, to support public relations and visibility for an NGO and for humanitarian and development projects.
Requirements & Competencies:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Communications, Marketing, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in social media, digital marketing, and event coordination.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (C1–C2); any additional language is a plus.
- Proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and Google Drive.
- Creative mindset with a strong ability to design engaging visuals and videos, and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as within an international, multicultural team.
- One or more referees/contact persons, including their name, position, and contact details.
