Description
Organisation Internationale pour les Pays Les Moins Avancés (OIPMA) / International Organisation for the Least Developed Countries (IOLDCs), is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with UN ECOSOC.
OIPMA acts as a bridge between civil society organizations based in the LDCs and the UN Charter-based and Treaty-based Mechanisms and other international organizations.
OIPMA focus on the LDCs as a whole, giving priority to conflict zones such as the Horn of Africa, the Sahel Region, Yemen, Sudan and Afghanistan.
OIPMA presents the concerns of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in international debates, and speak up on behalf of civil societies in the crisis-affected LDCs. The lack of means in the LDCs actually blocks the NGOs in these countries to protect their civil, economic, social and cultural rights.OIPMA aims to raise awareness and early-warnings before the International Community about the main obstacles that impede the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the LDCs, by tackling the following mandates:
- Participating in international debates such as the United Nations Human Rights Council Sessions, UN Human Rights bodies meetings,
and other events coordinated by different stakeholders. - Doing research and writing reports on obstacles and constraints that impede the implementation of the SDGs in the LDCs.
- Meeting with NGOs based in the crisis LDCs such as the countries of the Horn of Africa, Sahel Region, Afghanistan, and Yemen.
- Conducting forums and interactive dialogues on the challenges met by the LDCs (children and armed conflicts, extremism, corruption,
and other core issues). - Carrying out advocacy matters with the aim to promote Human Rights and target conflict-prevention, post-conflict, and peace-building.
CORE MANDATES
Peace and Security:
- Political stability and conflict resolution with a focus on peace building efforts in LDCs
Climate Change Resilience:
- Advocating to tackle deforestation and biodiversity loss in LDCs through natural resource management;
- Supporting renewable energy initiatives.
Human Rights:
- Initiatives addressing (especially) children in armed conflict;
- Access to digital resources and technology;
- Support of healthcare systems;
- Advocacy for water and sanitation projects.
Our organization is seeking a committed and highly articulate volunteer to serve as our representative in meetings of United Nations bodies, including sessions of the Human Rights Council and other UN Charter based and UN monitary based mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the organization in the most professional and effective manner during UN meetings and consultations.
Deliver oral statements, interventions, and speeches at conferences, side events, and formal sessions.
Engage with stakeholders, including UN officials, NGOs, and diplomatic missions, as needed.
Prepare brief reports and summaries following meetings and sessions.
Required Qualifications
Strong ability to represent the organization confidently and diplomatically in international forums.
Excellent public speaking skills, with the ability to deliver clear and impactful statements.
High proficiency in English or French (spoken and written).
Demonstrated interest in human rights, international law and international humanitarian law or multilateral advocacy is an asset.
