The position

ILGA World has the honour of hosting the Secretariat of the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC).

ILGA World is seeking a staff person to manage the ERC Secretariat for an initial period of one year with a possible extension after the initial year. The ERC Secretariat manager is accountable to the ERC Executive Committee and is supervised by the Executive Director of ILGA World.

The Secretariat’s role is to provide support on an ongoing basis to the ERC, all ERC groups and processes, providing an important link between all parties coming together in the ERC and ensuring good governance, communications and institutionalisation, and continuity of the Coalition.

The Secretariat is an administrative independent body, guided in its work by the State and the civil society co-chairs, accountable to the ERC Executive Committee, and hosted by ILGA World. Its role is to support and facilitate interaction among state parties, other affiliated international and regional bodies, and civil society engagement in the ERC.

The ERC Secretariat is meant to serve member states, other affiliated international and regional bodies and global civil society equally, all that are part of the Coalition. For this reason, it has to maintain administrative independence as the co-chairs guide its work.
