Description
Created in 1924, the International Social Service (ISS) is an international non‑profit organisation represented by a network of national entities that support children, families, and individuals facing social and legal issues linked to migration or international displacement. ISS is a recognised actor in the field of child protection and well‑being thanks to its network of partners in more than 120 countries, active in training, information, and awareness‑raising projects. Each year, ISS provides services to more than 50,000 people worldwide, either directly or through support to child and family protection professionals. ISS is composed of a Governing Committee, an International Council and a Secretary‑General. The General Secretariat has two main functions: coordinating the international network and serving as a centre of expertise on child protection.
Context
The ISS General Secretariat is continuously strengthening its capacity-building and training offer for professionals and practitioners working in child protection and cross-border family situations.
We are seeking an intern/volunteer to support the development of online training materials, contributing to the transformation of ISS knowledge into engaging and accessible learning experiences.
A key focus of this position will be the development of e-learning courses on access to identity and search for origins, which are core areas at the heart of ISS’s mandate and work. The internship will also contribute to the development of courses on other topics related to child protection and care, as well as cross-border case management.
Key responsibilities/tasks:
- E-learning & training development
- Content design (transforming complex content into engaging learning experiences through structuring and refinement of interactive content
- Visual communications/graphic design
- Multimedia & content support
Duration and conditions
- Duration: 3 - 6 months, upon agreement (A volunteer or internship agreement will be signed)
- Location: Remote and/0r ISS, General Secretariat Office in Geneva
- Supervision: Beatriz Santaemilia, Children’s Rights Specialist and Jeannette Woellenstein, Acting CEO ISS General Secretariat
- Working hours: minimum 6 hours a week
Profile:
- Graduate or student in communications/education/social sciences with keen interest in digital learning
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in English (other languages are an asset)
- Familiarity with Moodle and/or other e-learning platforms
- Interest in child rights, child protection and international social work
- Experience with digital content creation – asset
