- Position Title: Project Manager
- Reports To: Executive Director / Officer Manager / Board Members
- Duration: 1 Year, Extendable
Job Purpose:
The Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and within budget. Projects will fall within the purpose of WFA, namely to amplify the voices of Afghan people, especially women, by creating platforms for dialogue and strengthening relationships among relevant stakeholders. The Project Manager will also support WFA’s advocacy efforts, which focus on promoting Afghan women’s rights and ensuring their meaningful inclusion in national and international decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall management and oversight of WFA's projects and initiatives.
- Lead the planning and implementation of dialogue programs and advocacy initiatives in close collaboration with the WFA Board and Advisors, ensuring the process creates space for developing a women-led manifesto.
- Engage proactively with WFA partners and participants in the dialogues to ensure inclusivity, diversity, and meaningful representation.
- Coordinate with host countries and local partners to enhance collaboration, communication, and logistical efficiency.
- Prepare and present timely reports to donors and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Collect, review, and, when necessary, translate relevant data, documents, and policies to support informed program implementation.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and analysis of needs assessment interventions in the area of coalition building, policy making, consultations and diagnostic assessments;
- Attend project events (virtual and in person) and stakeholder consultations, take notes and develop summary reports with the meeting results;
- Keep the project on track by managing timelines and deadlines;
- Liaise and facilitate clear communication among team members, relevant project stakeholders at the national and international level, and conduct follow-up activities;
- Handle changes to project scope or requirements effectively;
- Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and objectives.
- Performs any other tasks assigned by the management team to support effective project delivery and organizational priorities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, strategic policy work, or operations within NGOs, development organizations, or advocacy-focused initiatives.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with proven capacity to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and reporting procedures relevant to NGO operations.
- Familiarity with HR practices and administrative procedures, including compliance with organizational policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant project management or communication tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English is essential, with additional languages considered an advantage in international coordination.
- Commitment to WFA’s mission, including amplifying Afghan women’s voices and supporting rights-based advocacy.
Working Conditions:
- Virtual / Remote officing
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Flexibility in working hours may be necessary based on operational demands.
