Position: Digital Communications Officer

Contract: 8 months Fixed term employment contract, full time, 40h per week

Location: Geneva (Switzerland) or remote

The Digital Communications Officer supports the implementation of Civitas Maxima’s digital communications activities and contributes to strengthening the organization’s online visibility, outreach, and public engagement.

Working under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Officer supports the production, publication, and dissemination of digital content across Civitas Maxima’s website, social media, and newsletter channels.

The Digital Communications Officer also supports the monitoring of digital engagement and the consistency of messaging and branding, to support the effective implementation of Civitas Maxima’s communication strategy.

Digital Content:

  • Support the creation, drafting, and editing of digital content, including social media posts, web copy, and short-form written materials;
  • Contribute to the production of visual and multimedia assets, including graphics, videos, and other multimedia materials, in coordination with designers or external suppliers as needed;
  • Support the consistency of messaging and branding across digital communication channels.

Social Media:

  • Support the management and updating of CM’s social media platforms, including scheduling and publishing content;
  • Monitor social media channels and support timely responses to queries and comments;
  • Maintain and update the social media content calendar in coordination with the communications team.

Website and Newsletters:

  • Support the management and updating of CM’s website, ensuring content is accurate, current, and accessible;
  • Coordinate newsletter preparation and dissemination;
  • Support the formatting and distribution of email communications.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Support the monitoring of digital engagement and media coverage;
  • Support analytics and reporting on the performance of digital content and channels;
  • Support the assessment of the impact and effectiveness of digital communication activities.

Coordination, Support and Events:

  • Liaise with colleagues across teams to gather and verify content, ensuring quality and consistency with editorial standards;
  • Support the digital promotion and coverage of outreach projects, events, webinars, and report launches, including event pages, social media announcements, email invitations, and the production of promotional assets;
  • Provide digital and technical support for online and hybrid events, and support live coverage and post-event content, including summaries, recordings, and photo or video materials;
  • Support the communication and digital coverage of trial-related briefings and convenings, in coordination with the legal team;
  • Coordinate and support the maintenance of organized communication archives and records, including the communications calendar and news tracking.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education
    • A university degree or diploma in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Experience
    • Relevant experience in digital communications, social media, or content production, preferably with an NGO, international organization, or comparable institution;
    • Experience updating and producing content for the website using WordPress and other digital channels and managing social media accounts;
    • Familiarity with content management systems, email/newsletter platforms, including Mailchimp, and social media scheduling and analytics tools;
    • Working knowledge of basic design and video-editing software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
  • Skills
    • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and accuracy;
    • Ability to present complex or sensitive material clearly and accessibly for diverse audiences;
    • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;
    • Sound editorial judgement and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Languages
    • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is required
