Post description :

The IOE is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Adviser /Project Officer to assist the organisation’s member federations in the African region and support the Projects team, taking on the following responsibilities:

  • Support the projects team in delivering workshops, trainings and other related activities in the African region, in particular Senegal, Uganda Lesotho, and Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Engaging in discussion and elaborating and leading guidance on topics such as industrial relations, business development, entrepreneurship, employability, youth employment, labour migration and related issues in the African region
  • Represent the IOE at various fora and workshops both of online, live and hybrid
  • Organise, facilitate and follow up to workshops in collaboration with the Projects team
  • Act as Focal point for IOE Members in Africa

Qualifications:

  • An educational background and qualifications ideally in labour economics, industrial relations or alternatively in international studies or similar
  • An understanding of the role of employers’ organisations and of the world of business in the African region and how it relates to the international institutions and governments
  • Work experience and/or solid knowledge of the African region, (ideally Senegal, Uganda Lesotho, and Democratic Republic of Congo)
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • The ability to work across a range of policy areas, and be capable of independent research and analysis
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills
  • Well-developed political understanding and sensitivity
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills: in particular experience in presenting to and writing for an international business audience
  • Experience of working in a multicultural team
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks
  • The ability to manage staff and work with limited supervision

Conditions :

  • Starting date: ASAP. Ideally 1 June 2022
  • Based in Geneva
  • Ability to travel to external meetings as necessary
  • Full-time schedule of five days (40 hours) per week
  • Duration: 3 years .
