We are seeking a Technical Officer specializing in Market Access to support our work on improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health medicines and technologies in low- and middle-income country (LMIC)/emerging markets.

Concept Foundation is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization working to improve access to quality-assured reproductive health medicines and technologies in LMIC.

Concept Foundation has offices in Geneva and in Bangkok, Thailand with staff and consultants located in multiple countries.  Concept Foundation works closely with World Health Organization on sexual and reproductive health and medicines, supports generic and innovator manufacturers on quality-assured manufacturing, clinical and implementation research, and knowledge translation activities.

Job purpose:

We are looking for a market access technical officer with a proven track record of working with reproductive health technologies to join our team at Concept Foundation. You will be providing expertise in support of multiple projects across our reproductive health workstreams that include primarily maternal health, contraception, and safe abortion thematic areas, contributing to a broad range of activities from IP status, pricing and cost of goods, investment planning, market analysis and supporting the mapping  of access pathways for medicine and device innovations.

Duration of assignment/location:

The position is part-time at 50% and currently for a one-year duration with extension possibilities based upon performance and funding. We are seeking candidates domiciled and able to work in Europe.

Remuneration:

Will depend on location of individual, experience and qualifications.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Public Health, Health Economics, or equivalent technical field (pharmacy etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in global health market access initiatives with knowledge of commercial and public sector access approaches
  • Working technical knowledge of reproductive health technologies – medicines and devices
  • Familiarity with global sexual and reproductive health and rights issues and challenges as well as global health goals such as SDGs
  • Knowledge of health systems, commercialization and medicine introduction in low and middle-income countries (LMIC)/emerging markets

Key attributes: Essential (E), Desirable (D)

  • A robust understanding of global markets for key maternal and other reproductive health technologies, with an emphasis on LMIC markets (E)
  • An understanding of the generic and innovator pharmaceutical industries, reproductive health sector preferred, but not mandatory (D)
  • Able to develop, as part of a team costed product access strategies through an end to end process from pre-clinical to use (E)
  • Ability to conduct analyses, identify key trends from complex datasets and support decision making/scenario planning for products (E)
  • Ability to develop search strategies and conduct literature searches on bibliographic databases (D)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use relevant software to conduct and present analyses in presentation format (E)
  • Strong teamworking skills – the post-holder will be required to work with different team members and contribute critical elements to larger projects (E)
  • An understanding of supply chain complexities for reproductive health medicines in LMIC/emerging markets (D)

Language skills:

Excellent knowledge of and writing skills in English essential. Working knowledge of French or Spanish would be desirable.
