Background

The Global Survivors Fund (“GSF”) was launched in October 2019 by Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, Nobel Peace Prize laureates 2018. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. GSF acts to provide interim reparative measures (IRM) in situations where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities. GSF advocates for duty bearers as well as the international community to develop reparations programmes. It also guides states and civil society by providing expertise and technical support for designing reparations programmes. GSF’s survivor-centric approach is the cornerstone of its work.

Role Summary

The intern will be responsible for supporting the activities of the ACT team working on projects for interim reparative measures, and will report to the Regional Coordinator for Africa. In addition, the intern will provide support to other members of the ACT team, in particular to the ACT management team and the IRM projects assistant.

Position Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:

• Contribute to data analysis, research, drafting of note and reports related to ongoing or upcoming interim reparative measures projects
• Participate and report on projects meetings
• Support the organisation of exchanges on projects lessons learnt
• Support ACT internal coordination, including the collection of quotes, the update of projects flowcharts, of the mission calendar and other reporting documents
• Support the research and translation of tools in the ACT toolkit, from and into English/French, and Spanish if possible
• Participate and report on ACT team meetings
• Participate in GSF team meetings

Position Requirements

This internship is part of an academic training program, a professional training program or a socio-professional integration program, and must meet the conditions set by the Conseil de surveillance du marché de l'emploi (CSME).

Other Essential requirements

• Master's in international relations, international law, or another related topic;
• Full working proficiency in English and French;
• Spanish is an asset;
