Description
Catalytic’s mission is to accelerate the design and deployment of catalytic finance solutions for sustainable infrastructure. We identify and develop robust project pipelines and deploy technical assistance to support infrastructure projects to become more investible and impactful. Catalytic seeks to ensure positive social and environmental outcomes in addition to financial returns for impact investors, applying credible methodologies for the measurement and evaluation of impacts. In addition, Catalytic incubates and structures blended-finance funds aiming at scaling up and speeding up the implementation of infrastructure projects with positive climate impacts.
Catalytic is seeking an Investment Specialist covering two initiatives seeking to deploy concessional capital for private entities promoting nature (forests and oceans).
Catalytic has been mandated by the GFCR to support the Technical Assistance of the investment windows and deployment of acceleration capital. To this end, Catalytic’s mission is to support the pipeline of local projects bringing positive impact on the coral
reefs. These projects will be supported by Catalytic with technical assistance as well as concessional investment. The investment specialist will take an active part in the deployment of the capital acceleration.
Catalytic has also been mandated by CAFI to support and scale up low-emission development investments to mitigate climate change and reduce poverty. To this end, Catalytic’s mission is to identify and build a robust pipeline of local projects which will
lead to low-emission economic development, reduction of deforestation, and conservation of forest. These projects will be supported by Catalytic with technical assistance as well as catalytic, concessional investment. The investment specialist will lead the investment work on the early-stage investment.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO and working closely with other team members and Catalytic’s partners, the Investment Specialist will support Catalytic in deploying its concessional investments. This will include support in sourcing projects, the evaluation, assessment and due diligence of funds and projects, and the subsequent activities leading to deployment of concession capital, e.g. leading the negotiation of the term sheets, prepare documentations for the Investment Committees, and finalisation of contracts. At a later stage, the Specialist will also advise and support the investee on an ad-hoc basis.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead in deploying concessional capital within the mandate of GFCR and CAFI.
- Support the identification of potential projects.
- Lead the investment process, including project assessment, due diligence, term sheet negotiation and contract finalisation.
- Prepare documentations for the Investment Committee.
- Advise and support the investees in a later stage.
- Provide numbers, results, and deliverables for Communication, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting.
- Support in investment analysis in other of Catalytic’s activities when required.
Profile:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in investment analysis, due diligence, negotiation of term sheets and contracts, structuring and closing transactions, oversee investees.
- Knowledge and working experience in private equity investments and management.
- A good understanding of business development and financial models of infrastructure projects, experience in nature investment would be a strong asset.
- Experience working with stakeholders in the space of impact, blended-finance investment for climate targets would be a plus.
- Experience with international standards, such as IFC Performance Standards, Gold Standard, would be a plus.
- Passionate about climate mitigation and adaptation with a strong commitment towards a more sustainable world.
- Team player, flexible and experienced in working in a multicultural environment.
- Taking initiatives and thinking out of the box to find solutions to challenges are needed on a daily basis.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficient English level in writing and speaking, additional language skills a plus.
- Excellent writing, drafting and editing skills.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental science, and/or finance and economics.
The working station will be Geneva with travels depending on project needs.
