Job Description:
The IOE is seeking a highly motivated Junior Legal Advisor to join our Legal department and support our team of advisers. The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker who has completed a postgraduate degree in International Law or International Relations. Relevant professional qualifications and/or work experience are required, along with a strong interest and knowledge in international law and international organisations.
Description of Duties:
- Analysing the provisions of ILO Conventions and Recommendations and various related documents.
- Researching on international labour standards related matters.
- Updating and organising the online legal database.
- Preparing legal analysis for the discussions of cases and complaints before the ILO standards supervisory bodies.
- Drafting and preparing statements on legal related matters for discussions in the ILO Governing Body sessions and technical meetings.
- Providing support on legal related matters to other advisers as per IOE needs.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- A postgraduate degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field is required.
- 2-5 years of experience in international law, particularly familiarity with ILO instruments and related documents.
- Fluency in English is required (native speaker); proficiency in French and Spanish would be considered an asset.
- Proven expertise in legal drafting and legal research. preferably in an international or multi-stakeholder context.
- Familiarity with the functioning of ILO standards supervisory bodies and international tripartite systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal texts and documents.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in using legal databases and research tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Flexible, versatile, and proactive in addressing challenges.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural team environment.
Remuneration:
A competitive remuneration package will be offered.
Conditions:
- Fixed-term position from 1st July 2025 to 31st December 2025.
- Based in Geneva
- Work percentage : 50 %
