Description

The Foundation is an independent non-profit organization, legally incorporated in Switzerland.

The Foundation’s mission is to promote better global governance and strengthen the capacities of people and countries to achieve a fairer, more peaceful world. The Foundation works to address the emerging challenges and policy gaps that pose a threat to peace, development and human rights.

The Internship will be split across the Foundation’s Democracy Programme and its Youth and Peace Programme, with a focus on the Kofi Annan Changemakers, WYDE Civic Engagement, and Digitize Youth projects.

This internship may include a variety of the following tasks:

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of meetings, events, webinars, and conferences.
  • Liaise with the beneficiaries and partners of the various projects.
  • Research and preparation of materials for new project proposals, including into potential partners and beneficiaries.
  • Tracking political developments in areas of interest to the Foundation and drafting updates/notes for team members as requested.
  • Support the 2025 Kofi Annan Changemakers programme with the following tasks:
    • Manage the online calls’ technical aspects (recording, monitoring participants, breakout groups, note taking, drafting surveys and analysis) and drafting follow up email to participants with sessions’ content.
    • Support the team before, during and after the 2025 in-person module in Geneva in November (logistics, communications, note-taking, follow up with participants)
    • Maintain the youth repository and other related tasks related to alumni network.

Skills and competencies required

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in French is a major advantage;
  • A first degree in international relations, international law, politics, economics, or a related field. Interests in Africa, Latin America or Southeast Asia and election processes would be an asset;
  • Experience working with youth strong asset;
  • Good research, organizational, and communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills, computer literacy, and planning capacity;
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of international politics, socio-economic development and rule of law and human rights; sound judgment, discretion, resourcefulness and good interpersonal skills are prized attributes;
  • Ability to take personal initiative and work to deadlines.

Mandatory requirements in order to apply:

  • Be a Swiss/EU citizen or hold a valid work permit for Switzerland. Students citizens of non-EU/EFTA countries are forbidden to seek paid employment during the first 6 months from their arrival in Switzerland. NB: Candidates with a Swiss Student B Permit can only work full-time when they do not have classes;
  • Be enrolled in university during the internship, and be able to enter a three-way agreement between you, Kofi Annan Foundation, and your university;
  • The internship must be intra-cursus, e., part of an academic training program, a professional training program or a socio-professional integration program, and must meet the conditions set by the Conseil de surveillance du marché de l’emploi (CSME). We will automatically reject applications which do not meet these criteria established by the State of Geneva.

The internship is remunerated and is available for a period of 3 months, starting from mid-August or latest early September 2025.
