Franciscans International is an international non-governmental organization, with general consultative status at the United Nations, working for the promotion and protection of human rights. Since its establishment in 1989, FI has used advocacy as a tool to combat and address human rights violations. FI relies on the expertise and first-hand information of a large network of partners, including Franciscans working with the most marginalized and disadvantaged individuals and groups in societies. From its offices in Geneva and New York, FI works with grassroots movements and national and international civil society organizations to advocate for structural changes addressing the root causes of injustice. FI promotes human rights at the heart of all policies and processes in development, environment, and peace.
Period: Franciscans International offers a three-month internship starting 1 September 2025.
Job description:
- Assisting in drafting written advocacy materials.
- Proofreading reports and documents for various UN human rights mechanisms.
- Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the UN Human Rights Council, UPR, and Treaty Body sessions.
- Contributing to ongoing FI research projects.
- Providing support in the organization of workshops and trainings.
- Any other assistance to the advocacy team.
Candidate profile and other requirements:
- Oral and written fluency in English and French. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
- Proficiency in reporting, analysis, and synthesis.
- Some knowledge of UN human rights mechanisms.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Able to adapt to various situations (flexibility and adaptability in a multicultural environment), highly motivated and dynamic.
- Capable of working both autonomously and in a team.
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate program at the time of application in one of the following fields: human rights, international relations, international law, or international development.
- Valid Swiss permit for the internship period.

- Monetary compensation (700 CHF per month at 100% work rate).
- Work rate to be determined based on the availability of the candidate.
To note:
- Location: FI office in Geneva (37-39 rue de Vermont)
- Working time: 37.5 hours a week for a full-time position
