Finance Manager (maternity cover – 10mths)

Location: Geneva, Switzerland (Hybrid)
Gold Standard Foundation are recruiting a Finance Manager to cover maternity leave for 10 months, starting in September. Reporting into the Senior Finance Manger you will oversee daily bookkeeping activities, managing payroll processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
This is a pivotal role in the organization which involves optimising financial systems, training staff on financial policies and interacting with external authorities to support Gold Standard’s financial health and growth

Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Overseeing daily bookkeeping activities and processing outgoing/incoming payments and journal entries accordingly.
- Ensuring accuracy of financial accounts and a smooth monthly closing cycle.
- Responsible for regional and/or country specific financial reporting (in anticipation of future regional offices).
- Maintaining and optimising the organisation’s Chart of Accounts.
- Responsibility for invoicing support in Xero.
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns for Geneva tax authorities by reconciling VAT GL accounts.
- Preparing quarterly reconciliation for the project marketplace transactions and related transactions to project owners.
- In charge of year-end closing and preparations for the annual audit.
- Regular training of all staff and direct reports on finance-related policies.
- Interacting with tax authorities, insurance companies and federal foundation supervisory authority
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Accounting
- Holders of Swiss Federal Diploma in Specialist in Finance and Accounting will be given priority
- At least 7+ years of experience in a similar position in a fast-moving office environment.
- Experience with Swiss GAAP a plus.
- Desire to probe further into data.
- Proven record of efficiency improvements to existing processes.
- Outstanding and demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships cross- functionally.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and enthusiasm for the environment.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – along with fluency in written and spoken English, French is a plus.
