Inclusivity and Diversity at MSF

Context & mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.

As a Data Architect, you will integrate the BRIDGE (Bringing Resources & Intelligence for Dynamic Global Engagement) project team, part of the DIP (Data, Innovation and Project) section, within the DSI (Direction of the Systems of Information).

As we are at a crossroad where we are revamping our data platforms, and breaking down the silos, you will play a key role in the architecture, redesign and implementation of the data architecture. Another pillar of this role is to support the implementation and operationalization of master data management, and help shape our broader data governance framework, data catalog strategy, and self-service data platform. You will work across departments to establish data architecture standards, guide project delivery, and ensure the long-term integrity and scalability of our data ecosystem.

This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including data governance leader, product owners, and business executives.

Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with potential for renewal based on evolving project requirements.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Architecture roadmap: Shape and maintain a future-proof data platform roadmap aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Platform evolution: Own the design, deployment, and scaling of MSF’s modern data stack.
  • Reference Data Foundation: Establish and steward enterprise-wide data referential to serve as single sources of truth for key entities (e.g., people, projects, locations), reducing inconsistencies and redundancies.
  • Business alignment: Translate business needs into secure, scalable, interoperable architectural solutions.
  • Tool cohesion: Ensure seamless integration across legacy, cloud, departmental systems, and BI/ERP tools.
  • Cross-functional delivery: Collaborate with data engineers, BI analysts, and business leaders to produce governed, reliable data assets.
  • Standards & best practices: Develop reference architectures, data modelling, and governance protocols for data quality and security with technical documentation.
  • Self-Service BI: Enable governed self-service analytics through well-structured data exposure.
