The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Geneva Office (RLS) is the Swiss branch of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung in Germany, an internationally operating, progressive non-profit institution for civic education funded by the German federal government. We work on issues of international trade union policy, social rights and socio-ecological transformation, together with progressive institutions, universities, trade unions and social movements. We opened our Geneva Office in 2020 and are now hiring for the following position:

Finance Assistant, part-time position (20 hours per week)

Mission: Performing, monitoring and ensuring the smooth operation of financial administration tasks and processes in the office. Those tasks are to be performed independently and proactively and when required, in consultation with the Finance Manager and the Director.

The main responsibilities include:

Accounting and budgeting:

  • Ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping of the monthly expenditures in collaboration withthe Finance Manager
  • Collect, file and catalogue all financial documents (physical and virtual storage), especiallycreation and maintenance of the physical bank and petty cash folders, as well as the financefolders on RLS local server.
  • Support the staff members regarding mathematical accuracy of partner and projectexpenditures.
  • Help in the preparation of all financial reports required by a) Swiss authorities; b) the Germangovernment as the foundation's donor; c) the RLS in Berlin, Germany in collaboration withthe Finance Manager.
  • Collaborate in the creation and management of the administrative budget in IPAS (Navision) with the Finance Manager.

Financial administration:

  • Preparation and management of transfers with online banking
  • Monitoring accounts payables and receivables
  • Drafting, revising and finalising templates for financial and administrative management ofthe office
  • Assist the Finance Manager in all other matters upon requirement
  • Act as temporary replacement of the Finance Manager on specific matter during his/herleave
  • Assist with general office tasks

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a relevant field (accounting, finance) or CFC de Commerce withequivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of accounting and finance experience.
  • Familiarity with Swiss financial procedures for Foundations.
  • Excellent computer/software skills, including Navision and other accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, experience working with partner organizations, civil societyactors and government institutions, good team work and ability to facilitate and managegroup work processes.
  • Language skills: English (excellent), French (excellent), German is a plus.
  • Understanding of the issues/topics RLS is working on in Geneva (social rights, trade unions,socio-ecological transformation, United Nations) and familiarity with left debates. Workexperience in an NGO environment is a plus.
  • Identification with the goals of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung.

Desired start of work is 01.10.2022. This is a part-time position, based in Geneva, Switzerland, for which prior work authorization is required. The position reports to the Finance Manager and the Office Director and may require travel, including internationally (when health appropriate).
