AS the International AIDS Society convenes, educates and advocates for a world in which HIV no longer presents a threat to public health and individual well-being. After the emergence of HIV and AIDS, concerned scientists created the IAS to bring together experts from across the world and disciplines to promote a concerted HIV response. Today, the IAS and its members unite scientists, policy makers and activists to galvanize the scientific response, build global solidarity and enhance human dignity for all those living with and affected by HIV. Details of the Position:

The Governance, Membership and Learning Graduate Assistant will be based in Geneva, Switzerland and report to the Manager, IAS Educational Fund and the Membership and Learning Officer. The position will be full-time and fixed-term for six months to start as soon as possible.

This position is intended for recent graduates and paid at the Geneva minimum wage.

Purpose of the Position:

The Governance, Membership and Learning Graduate Assistant will support the Governance,

Membership and Learning team in their day-to-day activities. These activities include supporting the IAS Educational Fund programme (regional meetings, webinars, digital and learning resources) and supporting membership related activities, including recruitment, retention and re- engagement efforts. iasociety.org

Main Responsibilities:

Governance and Membership

o Provide support to membership campaigns, including recruitment, retention and re- engagement efforts, as well as the #IASONEVOICE campaign

o Provide support in the development and implementation of new learning opportunities, tools and resources

o Support the improvement of the IAS Members’ Area as well as development of a new knowledge platform

  • Assist in knowledge and content management
  • Provide support in online community engagement

o Assist in preparation of the upcoming IAS Mentorship Programme

o Correspond with IAS Members on a regular basis by email/phone, and follow up on requests

o Assist in preparation of statistics/reports/presentations for meetings, as required.

IAS Educational Fund

o Support the preparation of and follow-up from IAS Educational Fund workshops, symposia and meetings including assistance with:

  • Meeting logistics in collaboration with regional partners
  • Preparation of pre-reading material selection
  • Coordination of travel arrangements for speakers and key participants if required
  • Survey analysis and reporting
  • Post-meeting activities

o Assist with the planning and delivery of IAS Educational Fund webinars:

  • Coordination of webinar logistics with speakers and participants
  • Post-webinar communication activities
  • Webinar survey analysis and reporting

o Support communication and monitoring and evaluation activities pertaining to the IAS Educational Fund:

  • Monitor the IAS Educational Fund inbox
  • Draft emails, website updates
  • Prepare statistics / charts for internal and donor reports iasociety.org

Perform any additional tasks as requested by the Manager, IAS Educational Fund and the Membership and Learning Officer.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Recently graduated in global health, social sciences, international relations, educational sciences, business management or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Ideally one year of work experience in administration, project management and/or virtual event organization
  • Ideally experience working in a culturally diverse environment
  • Although not essential for this position, the IAS acknowledges the value of the experience of living with HIV and will consider this when evaluating applications.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Well organized and systematic, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to analyse information and data
  • Time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and aptitude for multi-tasking
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision but also know when to consult for help
  • Excellent diplomatic skills and customer service attitude
  • Excellent computer skills in the Windows environment (particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Zoom and virtual meeting platforms experience an advantage
  • Eager to learn, hands-on attitude and solution oriented
  • Experience with online community platforms is an asset.

Languages:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English o Fluency in another language such as Spanish or Russian is an asset.
