The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is a membership organisation that unites and supports the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda.

Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, UICC’s growing membership of over 1200 organisations across 170 countries and territories, features the world’s major cancer societies, cancer centres, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups.

Fostering inclusive partnerships represents the foundation of how UICC operates and delivers impact. This is why UICC works hand in hand with a variety of stakeholders to drive changes and make progress in the fight against cancer. The portfolio of partnerships includes cancer organisations, foundations, and private sector companies.

Summary: Partnership Development team

The Partnership Development team works across the organisation to nurture and engage the partnership base and execute an effective resource mobilisation strategy for UICC’s activities and programmes.

In the past years, UICC has developed a dynamic membership and partnership network with increased engagement from members all around the world and successful partnerships with more than 50 partners.

The team focuses on:

  • Diversifying funding sources and exploring new partners that share UICC’s mission and values
  • Deepening existing partnerships to advance global cancer control together

Summary of the position

The Partnership Development Coordinator supports the team to fundraise and develop/manage long term strategic partnerships. The Coordinator will work across the organisation to deliver successful fundraising activities targeted at companies, foundations, cancer organisations, and high net worth individuals.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop in depth understanding of partner / donor trends and priorities
  • Support the research, prospecting and management of UICC’s partners, and support effective stewardship activities
  • Support the partnership contracts from negotiation to signature including any due diligence requirements
  • Prepare presentations for different audiences including prospects, partners, and UICC Board members
  • Maintain the income database and track proposals that were approved, rejected and those still in the pipeline
  • Monitor compliance alignment of partnerships and agreements
  • Maintain a grant management dashboard which captures all compliance-related details including reporting deadlines
  • Create and maintain all partner / donor and grant related filing

Skills and competencies

  • An advanced university degree with a minimum of two years proven track record of fundraising in a non-profit organisation or an international organisation
  • Familiar with the philanthropic sector - foundations, companies and high net worth individuals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a small, multicultural, dynamic team
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
  • Knowledge of the global health sector is desirable
  • Good IT skills particularly in using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Permit to work in Switzerland
  • Fluency in English, with French desirable
