The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative, which was created in 2010 to facilitate the development of information tools and products that enhance the capacity of aid actors to make evidence-based decisions in emergency, recovery and development contexts. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in research design; data collection, management and analysis; GIS and remote-sensing.

We are looking for a Grants Management and Project Development Intern to join our team in HQ.

Position:                       Grants Management and Project Development Intern

Contract duration:        6 months

Location:                      Geneva, Switzerland

Remuneration:             1’300 CHF gross per month

Starting Date:               ASAP

FUNCTIONS

The Grants Management & Project Development Intern will report to the Grant Manager, and will be part of a team supervised by the Head of Grant Management, and composed of 2 units, one on Grant Management headed by the Grant and PD Manager, also including 2 junior Grant Officers, and a Donor and Partnership Unit handled by a Partnership and Donor Specialist.

Based on these terms of reference and initial briefings, the selected candidate will progressively take on more responsibilities during the internship period, based on performance.

The Grant Management & Project Development Intern will be responsible for:

Follow up of processes related to Grant Management

  • Support the team in updating follow up tools (on dedicated platform) on a continuous basis
  • Produce / review project related tools and processes (analysis of donor contracts and requirements, project codes, project cards, kick off meetings, reporting reviews, follow up of performance / contractual monitoring and evaluation indicators)
  • Support the formalisation of external partnerships (specifically review and follow up of grant agreements with IMPACT global partner ACTED)
  • Contribute to the development of guidance, tools, and templates notably those geared towards improving the functionality of the Grant management department
  • Assist with drafting / reviewing project reports

Support to fundraising

  • Monitor and track potential funding opportunities
  • Follow up on external funding opportunities, including consultancies
  • Follow up on registration with donors
  • Follow up on donor guidelines
  • Support with due diligence from donors
  • Develop / consolidate project performances

REQUIREMENTS

  • Studies related to humanities or social sciences, and/or other relevant fields
  • Excellent written and spoken English, and ideally good working level in French
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Proven experience of copy-writing and editing articles, reports and presentations
  • Academic exposure to Grant management, program management and/or monitoring and evaluation
  • Attentive to detail, rigorous and organised
  • Proactive team player with the ability to think and work independently
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment, to work under stress and to meet tight deadlines
  • Fast learner and resourceful individual, able to take on a challenge and try new approaches
  • Previous experience in the non-profit sector and understanding of the humanitarian coordination system would be a plus
  • Knowledge of donor/institutional funding mechanisms would be a plus
