About ALIPH

ALIPH is a Swiss foundation based in Geneva, benefiting from the privileges and immunities of an international organization. As the main global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection of heritage in conflict and post-conflict areas, ALIPH supports concrete projects in the fields of prevention, emergency response and rehabilitation. To fulfill its mission, the foundation requires the financial support of States, foundations and private donors.

Key responsibilities

Under the authority of the Executive Director, the Programs Director:

  •  Leads a team of currently six Project Managers
  • Provides ALIPH with his or her scientific, technical and political expertise in the field of heritage protection in conflict and post-conflict areas and the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural property
  • Contributes to the definition of ALIPH’s support programs for heritage in conflict and post-conflict areas, its calls for projects and its emergency action plans, in close coordination with the Director of Strategic Development
  • Contributes to the definition and supervises the selection processes of projects funded by ALIPH
  • Manages ALIPH’s online grants platform
  • Contributes to the successful implementation of heritage protection projects supported by ALIPH and the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural property
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of project lifecycle management processes and tools, in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Operations
  • Contributes to the promotion of ALIPH through her or his international network
  • Contributes, with her or his team and in collaboration with the Director of Communication and Partnerships, to the drafting of communication material (website, press releases, etc.) relating to projects supported by ALIPH
  • Participates, whenever necessary, in international conferences and meetings in her or his areas of expertise
  • Prepares ALIPH Scientific Committee meetings and actively contributes to the preparation of ALIPH Foundation Board meetings
  • Contributes to the definition and implementation of ALIPH's development strategy, in conjunction with the Director of Strategic Development
  • Carries out other related tasks and provides strategic support, whenever necessary, at the request of the Executive Director 

Professional skills and experience 

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (art history, archaeology, architecture, heritage, cultural management, political science, international relations, programs management...)
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience including four (4) years in a management position (international organization or NGO, foundation, government or company with an international scope)
  • Proven experience in the management of teams of more than 5 people, and team spirit
  • Proven experience in grants and/or project management
  • Scientific, technical and/or political expertise in heritage protection
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of international relations and geopolitics
  • Ability to work in an international environment and interest in going on missions abroad, including to sensitive areas
  • Rigorous attention to detail and diplomatic acuity
  • Flexibility and ability to set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • Perfectly fluent in English and French. Knowledge of another language is an asset, especially Arabic.
  • Available on 1 September 2023
