Summary of the position 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Advisor, Programme & Partnership is responsible for an effective strategy of the grants programme and a smooth development of institutional relationships in the global health landscape. The role’s responsibilities encompass the following areas: programme strategy, raising awareness and leading advocacy projects, meetings and special events, institutional partnerships, and relations. THF offers a flexible work environment with the opportunity for staff to work remotely within the frame of Swiss regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities 

The incumbent’s key areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to the following areas:

  • Conceptualize new grant cycles by conducting research on the latest trends in health philanthropy, changing landscape of global campaigns to eliminate viral hepatitis, and latest breakthroughs in technology and operations research.
  • Develop strategies for calls for proposals, provide reasonable guidance to grant seekers, and convene external experts for proposal review.
  • Work with the Grant Senior Manager to prepare grant recommendations and supporting dossiers for Board review and consideration.
  • Cultivate and manage institutional relationships as appropriate.
  • Lead and manage special events and meetings initiated by THF with support from staff available.
  • Work together with Executive Director and Fundraising Manager to develop and advance new funding opportunities.
  • Network with key global health partners to raise THF’s profile in the space of viral hepatitis.
  • Share research and project results through in-person and virtual forums, workshops, conferences, and other events.
  • Represent THF at international forums.

Qualifications (Essentials) 

  • A degree in public health, law, medicine, international relations, development, or other relevant discipline.
  • Availability to periodically travel internationally.

Experience (Essentials) 

  • At least five years of experience in a similar position working in public health. Previous experience in hepatitis is an asset.
  • Experience in project implementation, reporting and/or programmes, ideally in a middle- and/or low-income country setting.
  • Experience coordinating large meetings, workshops and working groups.
  • Experience working with external partners, donors, service providers and/or consultants.
  • Experience writing proposals.

Skills 

  • Strong team player with an aptitude for lateral thinking, developing, and implementing new ideas.
  • Strong stakeholders’ management skills, sense of diplomacy, cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills with and related to people of different cultures, demonstrating an ability to see issues from other perspectives.
  • Knowledge of hepatitis as a disease and experience in relation to stigma, including up to date knowledge of the latest relevant scientific research and programmatic practices will be advantageous.
  • Passion for health equity and access to healthcare.

Languages 

  • Strong and demonstrated English language communication skills, both written and oral are essential for this position.
  • Knowledge of French or other languages is an asset.
