PSI is looking for a Consolidation Officer to join the Finance team on a permanent contract as from a commencing date as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will primarily contribute to the consolidation of the accounts of the regional offices, including the recording of expenditure on projects financed by external donors. S/he will also be involved in head office accounting tasks and in improving the accounting processes and IT tools used by the finance department.

He/she must have an excellent knowledge of international accounting standards and their implementation within an international organisation.

The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and must be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills for effective communication in English. Fluency in French is an asset.

He/she must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, as well as one or more accounting packages, and be able to work to deadlines and manage high workloads requiring prioritisation and attention to details.

The candidate will have ideally at least five (5) years' experience in finance and accounting, including consolidation work, preferably within the trade union or association movement, civil society or equivalent.

Main duties and responsibilities :

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will primarily contribute to the consolidation of the accounts of the regional offices, including the recording of expenditure on projects financed by external donors, in accordance with the procedures and principles of the organisation, donors and legal requirements. S/he will also be involved in head office accounting tasks and in improving the accounting processes and IT tools used by the finance department.

1) General and project accounting

  • Consolidates the monthly accounts of the regional offices.
  • Ensures compliance with the accounting rules laid down by external funders for recording project expenditure.
  • Provides support to regional staff in carrying out their financial management activities to ensure harmonised methods and procedures.
  • Ensures bank reconciliation.
  • Takes part in recording affiliation fee payments and sending receipts to members.
  • Pays invoices and processes requests for funds from regional offices.

2) Annual audit and closing of accounts

  • Carries out annual accounting closing transactions and assists in the preparation of financial statements, including project reports.
  • Ensures the revaluation of foreign currency accounts.
  • Participates in annual audits of projects and general accounting.

Carry out other tasks of similar nature as assigned by the Finance Manager.
