Description

  • Required travel: Up to 0% (Position is based in Geneva, CH )
  • Reports to: Finance & Compliance Manager

Scope of the role

Responsible mainly for Secretariat accounting, the accountant ensures appropriate and efficient use of GCERF’s resources and assets through the verification, monitoring, and improvement of internal policies and processes.

Principal accountabilities and ownership

  • Accounting: Responsible for accurate and appropriate Secretariat accounting for all financial transactions (including journal entries and analytical accounting).
  • Compliance: Responsible for compliance of financial transactions with GCERF’s policies and donor’s requirements
  • Quality of financial reporting: Responsible for accuracy and completeness of key account balances and relevant financial reports (quarterly finance report, review of the monthly payroll, monthly budget monitoring).
  • Efficiency of internal processes: Responsible for proposing improvements and potential automation within Finance and Administration

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related areas
  • At least 3 years of similar experienc
  • Previous experience in NGO or Non-Profit organizations accounting is desirable

Technical skills

  • Good knowledge of accounting standards and practice
  • Previous experience with accounting software and Excel (WinEur is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of French and English (B2-level
  • Previous experience with financial project management

Finance and administration team (primary)

  • Provide general support and assistance to the finance team

Finance & Compliance Manager (primary)

  • Ensure understanding of communication instructions/guidanc
  • Gather all necessary approval request
  • Identify and make recommendations on continuous improvement opportunities

Finance Intern / Junior Associate (primary)

  • Train, supervise daily tasks and support the finance intern/junior associate

GCERF Secretariat Staff (primary)

  • Ensure staff compliance with existing GCERF policies and regulations

HR & Admin team (Secondary)

  • Ensure compliance related to cash transactions and payroll

Travel and Procurement Assistant (secondary)

  • Ensure compliance related to travel and procurement

Budget holders (secondary)

  • Support budget holders to monitor their budgets on a monthly basis
