ALIPH is a Swiss foundation based in Geneva, with the privileges and immunities of an international organization. As the leading global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage in conflict areas, ALIPH supports concrete projects in the fields of prevention, emergency response and rehabilitation. To fulfill its mission, the Foundation receives financial support from States, foundations and private donors.

About the position

This is an 8-month maternity cover.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Partnerships, the Communications Officer – Events and Publications, contributes to the planning and execution of international events (exhibitions, workshops, conferences) and the publication process of institutional documents (annual reports, brochures, etc.).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the preparation of ALIPH events in Geneva and abroad by:
    • Assisting with event planning and managing action items
    • Drafting event agendas
    • Drafting invitation lists and managing invitations
    • Organizing travel for delegates or high-level guests
    • Liaising with on-site event suppliers and vendors
    • Being on site to coordinate the smooth running of the event.
  • Contributes to the preparation of documents, reports, brochures, including:
    • Drafting texts;
    • Editing manuscripts according to House Style Guide
    • Liaising with contributors
    • Coordinating vendors
    • Drafting partnership agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, contracts, etc.
  • Any other communications duties, as required

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Higher education in humanities, social sciences, international relations
  • At least 3 years’ experience in event planning with multiple stakeholders in an international environment
  • At least 3 years’ experience in publication management, liaising with editors, writers, high-level contributors, printers, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience writing content for an international audience
  • Demonstrated experience in editing and proofreading in either English or French
  • Experience drafting contracts, MOUs, partnership agreements
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities within a small organization, capacity to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies (governmental organizations, IO, NGOs, academia)
  • Initiative and team spirit, with experience working in multicultural environments
  • Diplomatic tact and discretion
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience working with content management systems and design tools (Canvas, Photoshop) is an asset
  • Fluent in English and French. Knowledge of another language would be an asset, especially Arabic.
