Description

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE), based in Geneva, seeks a highly motivated and dynamic Junior Adviser to assist and support the organisation’s on the topics of Business & Human Rights and CSR.

For the IOE as the global voice of business the topics of Business & Human Rights and CSR have grown in importance over the last years.

The IOE offers a unique opportunity to gain insights in global policy development, how this works from both a technical as a political perspective, how this influences business and how business interacts with social partners, governments and NGOs. The IOE team consists of high skilled professionals that have different backgrounds, both educational as cultural.

Description of Duties:

Under the supervision of the Adviser in charge of Business and Human Rights, the candidate will:

  • Support to business human rights activities, events and reports, including for EU projects
  • Support the production of regular reporting and debriefing (GIRN, BHR events, etc.)
  • Produce background research, take minutes in English, French (and ideally Spanish)
  • Support event organisation and management including logistics, invitation, agendas and concept notes
  • Support in the production of communication materials (e.g., PPT, presentations)
  • Support the management of the existing members of the GIRN and partners companies related to Business and Human Rights
  • Support the outreach and recruitment to new members of the GIRN and partners companies related to Business and Human Rights

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An educational background and qualifications in International Human Rights, International Law, International Relations or similar
  • Ideally a specialisation in the field of Business & Human Rights and CSR
  • An understanding of the role of employers’ organizations and the sensitiveness and challenges of business when it relates to the international institutions and governments
  • Fluency in French, English and ideally Spanish (IOE official languages)
  • Excellent writing and analysis skills
  • Proactive, fast learner, creative, multitask
  • The ability to work across a range of policy areas, and at ease in drafting different type of documents (briefing notes, reports, invitation letters) and in presenting to and writing for an international audience
  • Experience of working in a team and multicultural environment

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration package will be offered.

Conditions:

  • Starting date: 1st January 2024
  • Based in Geneva
  • Part-time schedule 80% on five days (32 hours) per week
  • Duration: 1 year with possibility to convert it into a permanent position, depending on performance)
