The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is a membership organisation that unites and supports the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda. Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, UICC’s growing membership of over 1100 organisations across 170 countries and territories, features the world’s major cancer societies, cancer centres, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups. Fostering inclusive partnerships represents the foundation of how UICC operates and delivers impact. This is why UICC works hand in hand with a variety of stakeholders to drive changes and make progress in cancer control. The portfolio of partnerships includes cancer organisations, foundations, and private sector companies.
Summary of the position
The Membership Development Coordinator will support the Head of Membership Development, to successfully conduct the day-to-day operational management and the delivery of all activities pertaining to UICC’s membership base. The Coordinator will also work with other UICC teams and external stakeholders to support the engagement and recruitment of new members.
Main responsibilities
General logistics and administrative support
- Coordinate day-to-day logistics and administration including managing members’ applications, welcome packs, coordinate information for payment reminders, mailings etc.
- Support general management of the membership database
Communication
- Coordinate the development of marketing and communications materials and update web content
- Prepare content for UICC channels, gathering content from members and working across the organisation to showcase membership opportunities
- Compile member information and prepare reports
Mapping prospects and membership engagement activities
- Support the Head of Membership with engagement and prospecting activities, such as gathering information and profiles of potential members through research, expanding the prospect lists, organising meetings with members or new contacts and communications
- Participate in the organisation of meetings/events
- Support regional engagement activities
Skills and competencies
- Advanced university or technical degree
- 1-3 years of experience
- Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal
- A high level of written and spoken English; other languages such as French and Spanish a plus
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and advanced Excel a must
- Experience with database management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Desirable: experience working with an international team and understanding of NGOs
The candidate should be eligible to work in Switzerland.
