Description

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) is the global alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), which are independent state bodies with a constitutional and/or legislative mandate to protect and promote human rights. To date, more than 110 NHRIs exist worldwide, 78 of them being in full compliance with the United Nations Paris Principles 

GANHRI is lead implementing agency for the EU funded project Capacity Building of National Human Rights Institutions - Phase 3 project (NHRI.EU.3). GANHRI’s co-implementing partners are:  

  • Africa-Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI)  
  • Americas-Network of the National Human Rights Institutions from the Americas (RINDHCA) 
  • Asia-Pacific- Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF)  
  • Europe- European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI 

The project’s overall objectives is to: Enhance the role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) and their global and regional networks in promoting and protecting the human rights of all individuals, with further objectives being to: 

  • Strengthen NHRI’s effectiveness to protect and promote human rights defenders and civic space; support and protect NHRIs when under threat in line with the 2018 Marrakech Declaration and follow-up frameworks.(Strategic Objective 1) 
  • Strengthen the accreditation process and support the work of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA).  Support the establishment, strengthening and accreditation of NHRIs to be in compliance with the Paris Principles.(Strategic Objective 2) 
  • Enhance NHRIs’ effectiveness in identified thematic areas to advance sustainable development through human rights.(Strategic Objective 3) 
  • Continue strengthening GANHRI and the four regional networks, including their secretariats, to be able to better serve and support their member NHRIs. (Strategic Objective 4)  

Objectives 

The NHRI.EU.3 project represents an opportunity for GANHRI to showcase how partnerships with NHRIs, regional networks and GANHRI are addressing key human rights issues at the national, regional and international levels. A clear, consistent, and strategic communication will be key to supporting and demonstrating the realisation of the project’s objectives. 

In particular we envisage three communication goals: 

  • Promote the mandate, role and impact of Paris Principles-compliant NHRIs, GANHRI and Regional Networks 
  • Give visibility to priority human rights issues and the contribution of NHRIs, GANHRI and Regional Networks in driving change 
  • Strengthen partnerships and exchange among NHRIs, GANHRI and Regional Networks 

For this purpose, GANHRI is recruiting a Graphic Designer to support the range of communication activities for the advancement NHRI.EU.3 workplan. 

Responsibilities 

The Graphic Designer consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Communications and Events Officer and will develop project-specific and related initiatives: 

  • Banner/s 
  • Template for presentations 
  • Template for reports 
  • Template for social media posts 
  • Template for Mailchimp emails 
  • Email signature for GANHRI staff 

And will also provide support on project-wide communications material including: 

  • Producing original illustrations and infographics for web articles, reports, brochures, posters, and other communication/ visibility materials for thematic areas of work; 
  • Graphic design/layout template for publications, reports, flyers as well as content for website, social media channels and newsletter; 
  • Producing and editing video materials, including short animations; 

Qualification and education requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts/Graphic Design  

Competencies: 

  • Proven experience in producing publications with innovative graphic designs with the use of software such as In-Design, Illustrator;  
  • Experience in video editing with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro; 
  • Sample work of clear and mature style of design; 
  • Ability to meet deadlines; 

Experience 

A minimum 3 years’ proven work experience as Graphic Designer or similar role.
