Job description:

The IOE is looking for a highly motivated Project Officer (80%) to assist the Head of Programmes and Projects with the following duties:

  • Support with project planning and execution, including setting deadlines, following project guidance and processes, coordinating schedules, prioritising tasks, documenting requirements and deliverables.
  • Submission of high-quality draft documents and correspondence, notetaking, and meeting scheduling.
  • Coordinate and undertake research and analysis relating to the project, through independent research.
  • Engaging in discussion and elaborating and leading guidance on topics such as job creation, industrial relations, business development, entrepreneurship, employability, youth employment, and related issues with special attention to low-income countries.
  • Analyse basic financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Manage and maintain document databases and general administrative duties as required.

Qualifications :

  • Strong organisational skills, flexibility, and ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks.
  • An educational background and qualifications ideally in labour economics, industrial relations or alternatively in international studies or similar.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • An understanding of the role of employers’ organisations and of the world of business and how it relates to international institutions and governments.
  • Knowledge and experience of project management and delivery.
  • Work experience and/or solid knowledge of the African region and other Global South geography
  • Excellent knowledge of English. Good knowledge of French and/or Spanish would be highly desirable.

Conditions:

  • Starting date: ASAP
  • Based in Geneva (work permit required)
  • Part-time schedule at 80% (32 hours) per week
  • Availability and ability to travel to external meetings as necessary.
  • Duration: contract approved on a yearly basis until 30 September 2025.
