Job description:

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE), based in Geneva, seeks a highly motivated and dynamic Junior Adviser to assist and support the organisation’s member federations by engaging in discussions and leading guidance on topics such as industrial relations, labour laws, the future of work, employment and related issues as required.

Description of Duties:

The successful individual will be able to engage with members with diverse needs and expectations and will promote the IOE’s policy voice on behalf of employers in the International Labour Office (ILO), as well as other agencies and organizations across the UN and multilateral system.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent command of English, Spanish proficiency is an asset. Good oral and written communication skills in both languages.
  • An understanding of the role of employers’ organizations and of the world of business and how it relates to the international institutions and governments.
  • An educational background and qualifications ideally in law, political sciences, international studies, industrial relations, or labour economics
  • Business sensitive approach on ILO matters and UN initiatives
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to analyse global issues as well as national policies and to develop innovative, comprehensive research.
  • Ability to work across a range of policy areas, such as industrial relations, international standards and
  • Sound judgement and good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Good inter-personal skills and the ability to maintain good working relations within and outside the organization.
  • Good drafting skills
  • Ability to presenting to and writing for an international business audience.
  • Enjoys working in a multicultural environment.

Remuneration:

A competitive remuneration package will be offered.

Conditions:

  • Starting date: ASAP
  • Based in Geneva
  • Full-time schedule of five days (40 hours) per week
  • Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension towards a permanent position)
