Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAAMAC)

stands for a community of commitment wherein governments and civil society organizations in all countries are called upon to commit to prevention of atrocities (genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing). GAAMAC focuses on initiatives that build or strengthen national policies and architectures to prevent atrocities as a permanent endeavour and that enable action at a very early stage. GAAMAC advocates for atrocity prevention to be included in the national agenda and become an ongoing task, which includes early detection, analysis, decision and action to prevent the degradation of a particular situation. The Association for the GAAMAC Support Office:

The Support Office implements the goals and activities set out by the Steering Group of GAAMAC. The Support Office is responsible for supporting the GAAMAC Chair and the Steering Group, to oversee the global administration, to organize internal and external events, and to ensure the overall functioning of GAAMAC’s virtual platform, outreach and fundraising efforts.

Objectives of the events and administration assistant:

To assist the Support Office Team in the organization of events and offer assistance on demand (see below for specific tasks) 

  • Events support 50%

In close cooperation with the Senior Coordination Officer:

  • Support the planning of all the events organized in Geneva
  • Support the preparation of the Regional Initiative events;
    • Contribute to the preparation of post-meetings reports: outcome documents, summary reports, evaluation surveys.
  • Editing, communications 30%

In close cooperation with the  Communications Officer:

  • Support with social media as needed
  • Administrative support 20%

In close cooperation with the Finance Manager:

  • Provide ongoing administrative, logistical and technical support during events and other activities
  • Assist with any other tasks as needed

Required qualifications

  • Recently completed studies in humanitarian affairs, international relations or a related field
  • Related first experience in the humanitarian, development or human-rights field an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English; French is an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong research and writing skills desired
  • Strong planning and organizational skills an asset and ability to work independently
  • Solid knowledge of information technology systems and tools, as well as social media an asset (e.g. Microsoft, Mailerlite, Canva, HootSuite)
