Description
This volunteer position provides a unique opportunity for a highly-motivated young professional to get hands-on experience in the real world of resource development at the global level. Working with the Foundation’s experienced team, the volunteer will have an opportunity to acquire key resource development skills: how to identify potential donors, how to cultivate and engage with them, and how to secure funds from them by preparing successful proposals and grant applications. The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) is a Swiss non-profit with the mission to develop, trial, and scale up new ways to lead change to tackle the challenges that threaten our societies.
- The Foundation uses cutting edge learning science to develop dynamic digital peer learning and leadership programmes to accelerate change in the global health, humanitarian and development sectors, with current focus on programmes in immunization, and experience in gender, emergency response and neglected diseases.
The Foundation is strengthening its partnerships with key partners and donors and developing new partnerships, especially with intergovernmental and national aid agencies and private donors to mobilizes resources in support of its mission.
Core tasks will include:
- Research support: provide research support to inform TGLF’s resource mobilization efforts.
- Networking and cultivation: support TGLF’s engagement with key stakeholders and networks.
- Strategy development: support the development of TGLF’s resource mobilization strategy.
- Board relations: support the board in its strategic role for resource mobilization.
- Writing: support preparation of concept notes, business cases, programme proposals, grant applications, presentations, and other content needed to support TGLF’s resource mobilization efforts
- Relationship management: Manage and update our Partner Relationship Management (PRM) system
Location: remote
- We are most interested in finding the right volunteer who happens to be based in Geneva, Switzerland.
- We are a global, distributed team very open to welcoming a volunteer from anywhere.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MA or Ph.D.) in relevant field.
- Excellent English writing skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Excellent administrative skills to keep accurate records and manage complex scheduling and programming across time zones with multiple stakeholders
- Trust-building and leadership competencies to support credible and effective stakeholder engagement and board relations
Preferred
- Prior experience in humanitarian, global health and/or development learning, education, and training.
- Fluent in French in addition to English, additional languages sought are Arabic, Chinese, and Russian
- Experience with resource mobilization at the global level
- Financial and/or grant management experience
- Mac-based to use our internal CRM (Marketcircle Daylite).

Nature of position
This volunteer position is up to 6 hours per week, for a duration of up to six months.
