Description

Background

The Syrian Negotiation Commission - Geneva Office (SNCGO) is representing and supporting the SNC and its mandate by expanding and facilitating outreach to Syrians and international actors. The SNC works towards a negotiated end to the Syrian conflict benefitting the Syrian people through dialogue, peaceful means and democracy in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

The SNC seeks to hire a senior advisor to provide political advice, operational and engagement support to the SNCGO, mainly focused on the Swiss government/institutions and United Nations (UN) organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, well-supported expert analysis, advice and recommendations to the SNCGO management on various operational issues.
  • Coordinate with Swiss law enforcement officials to facilitate implementation of regular SNC/SNCGO events in Geneva.
  • Coordinate with FDFA (Consular Affairs) regarding visas for SNC/SNCGO invitees.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, economics or management.
  • Knowledge of UN and Swiss policies.
  • Proven experience in diplomacy and/or liaison responsibilities.
  • Profound understanding of the UN system.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, French and Arabic.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Contract Duration

20 working days from 1 August to 31 December 2024.

Duty Station

Geneva, Switzerland.
