Tasks:

In the context of his or her main duties, the successful applicant will:

  • Follow and report on health related issues, with particular regard to WHO/WHA, e.g. progress on the international Pandemic Accord
  • Represent and advocate for the Health Policy of the Federal Government; give feedback and report to the relevant ministries
  • Prepare and report on the agenda of the WHO-Executive Board (EB), the annual World Health Assembly in Geneve (WHA) and other meetings,
  • Coordinate and negotiate WHA resolutions/decisions, EU-Coordination with EU- and other partners on draft resolutions and common statements,
  • Support the Permanent Mission’s health team, in particular with respect to UNAIDS processes and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (preparation, support and follow-up on board meetings)
  • Prepare and participate in meetings, conferences and events, draw up analyses and evaluate documents, e.g. regarding WHA
  • Conduct research, write minutes and reports, etc.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Professional:

  • A university degree in Health, Social or Political Sciences,
  • 1-2 years of professional experience desirable, ideally in an international context (e.g. at international organisations)
  • Experience in the sphere of health policy, with particular knowledge of Global Health and processes
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills

General:

  • Advanced proficiency in spoken and written German and English (CEFR C1/C2)
  • Knowledge of French desirable (CEFR B1/B2)
  • Strong ability to work in a team
  • Physical and mental resilience

Additional desired qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge in the spheres of finance and audit, risk management and human resource policies
  • Experience in the spheres of social media and communication

The contract of employment will be based on local law and will be concluded in accordance with the specimen contract of employment for positions at a German Permanent Mission in Geneva. The gross salary will be determined in accordance with the pay grade system for local employees at the Permanent Mission in Geneva. The monthly gross starting salary will be CHF 8882 (current amount, full-time position). The terms of the contract shall be in line with local law. Following the successful completion of the selection process, the candidate will need to undergo a pre-employment health check (performed by a doctor who is accredited by the Permanent Mission). A personal background and security check will also be conducted. Applicants’ willingness to participate in these shall be taken for granted.

Third-country nationals must also be in possession of a valid residence permit and work permit for Switzerland, at the latest by the beginning of the period of employment.
