Description
We are looking for a Senior Development and Fundraising Manager. This is a new position, established to lead the development and fundraising activities in support of the implementation of the PEFC Alliance 2030 Strategy, focusing on project development and raising the funds for those projects.
The projects, jointly developed and supported by public or private funds, will ensure that the PEFC Alliance is positioned as an expert player in the sustainable forest management arena and contributes to mitigating climate change effects, improving livelihoods and promoting ecosystem services.
The position will further strengthen a dynamic, growing and diverse global organisation, which is at the forefront of sustainability for forests and their benefits to people and the planet.
- Location: Remote (European time zones preferred) or hybrid from Geneva office
- Occupation time: 100%
- Contract: Three years with a possible extension
- Line Manager: Secretary General / CEO
- Travel: approx. 30%
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain networks with private and public funding agencies and development partners.
- Develop projects in accordance with the priorities of PEFC’s Development and Fundraising Strategy (DFS).
- Make use of a variety of funding mechanisms in accordance with the DFS.
- Coordinate fundraising activities of the PEFC Alliance.
- Act as Secretary of the Development and Fundraising Committee of the PEFC Board of Directors.
- Engage with PEFC members on potential joint development and fundraising activities or to support their own initiatives in this area.
- Provide quality assurance for project delivery.
- Organise project evaluations as required.
- Collaborate closely with the Secretariat’s marketing and communications team.
- Represent PEFC in relevant international networking and development events.
Requirements
- University degree in management, administration, international or political science, natural resources management, forestry or related fields
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project development including fundraising
- Experience in and/or in-depth knowledge of the international forestry or natural resources arena.
- Comprehensive knowledge of global and regional funding mechanisms and private and public funding agencies that are relevant for PEFC
- Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment
- Flexibility with excellent prioritisation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in other languages is an asset.
- Ability to travel
Work Environment
The position can be either based at the Geneva office or the successful candidate can work remotely (European time zones preferred). Both preferences will be equally considered.
- Geneva-based: hybrid work model, with up to two days’ work from home per week.
- Remote: working hours aligned with CET and regular travel to the Geneva office.
