Description

The World Organisation Against Torture Office in Geneva is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, thorough and versatile individual, with a commitment to human rights and strong skills in financial administration, to support its Finance and Administration Team.

The position is a part-time position (50-60%), based in the OMCT office in Geneva.

ABOUT THE OMCT

 The OMCT works with around 200 member organisations which constitute its SOS-Torture Network, to end torture, fight impunity and protect human rights defenders worldwide. Together, we make up the largest global group actively standing up to torture in more than 75 countries. Helping local voices be heard, we support our vital partners in the field and provide direct assistance to victims. Our international secretariat is based in Geneva, with offices in Brussels and Tunis.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Embedded in OMCT’s Operations unit and under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the primary responsibilities include preparing weekly payments, maintaining financial records, supporting on other financial operations, and providing general administrative support.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

Weekly Payments Preparation

  • Ensure payment requests are accurately recorded in the organization’s internal database.
  • Communicate with colleagues from other teams to gather required information (bank details, supporting documentation, cost allocation codes etc.).
  • Track payment requests and ensure timely processing to meet the organization’s financial obligations.

Bookkeeping – Financial Records

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of financial transactions in the organization’s internal database.
  • Ensure all supporting documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
  • Perform monthly updates related to credit cards, payroll, and exchange rates, ensuring all supporting documents and cost allocation details are complete.

Other tasks

  • Support on other financial operations and administration as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Diploma in finance, administration or similar field of occupation.
  • At least one year of experience in financial administration, bookkeeping or related field.
  • Experience in use of financial databases and/or accounting software.
  • Fluent English and at least intermediate French language skills.

The post is limited to 9 months (fixed-term contract) with possibility of extension depending on availability of funding.
