DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance is dedicated to improving the security of states and their people within a framework of democratic governance, the rule of law, respect for human rights, and gender equality. Since its founding in 2000, DCAF has contributed to making peace and development more sustainable by assisting partner states, and international actors supporting these states, to improve the governance of their security sector through inclusive and participatory reforms. It creates innovative knowledge products, promotes norms and good practices, provides legal and policy advice and supports capacity‐building of both state and non‐state security sector stakeholders.

For our Human Resources Unit, we are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual to be our next:

  • Front Desk Support Officer (100%)
  • Location: Geneva
  • Starting date: September 2022
  • Duration: Permanent

THE ROLE

The Front Desk Support Officer will report to the Head of Human Resources. She/he will support DCAF organisation with all activities linked to our reception and office space and will provide administrative support.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES

 Reception

  • Welcome and orient DCAF employees and visitors, and perform all kind of related reception desk duties
  • Organise and coordinate new joiners’ first days at DCAF, provide guidance and support
  • Provide and follow-up on all sorts of individual requests for support and assistance
  • Organize logistics for meetings, conferences and workshops
  • Liaise with technical external providers, Embassies and Missions as requested
  • Provide 1st level technical support with IT/technological office, and ensure good functioning of office equipment
  • Organize conference rooms booking and meeting rooms preparation

 Office Space

  • Assist the person in charge of space & offices allocation in organizing DCAF workspace at the Maison de la Paix
  • Support with office moves and perform other small maintenance interventions
  • Ensure security aspects in the building

Administrative support

  • Provide administrative support on an ad hoc basis

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant professional experience working in a similar role in an international working environment
  • Knowledge of Geneva and related administrative context
  • Amiability, empathy, discretion
  • Very strongly customer-oriented
  • Excellent and proven interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and “hands on” approach and a solution-oriented attitude
  • Attention to details, accuracy
  • Multitasking, flexibility, patience, autonomous
  • Strong communication skills, fluent in French and English -other language an asset
  • Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite.
