Background
The International Hospital Federation (IHF) is an international not for profit, non-governmental membership organisation. Our vision is a world of healthy communities served by well-managed hospitals and healthcare services, in which all individuals can reach their highest potential for good health.
Headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland), the IHF is the global voice of institutional healthcare service providers. We are in official relations with the World Health Organization, and in working relations with many multilateral agencies and global health-related NGOs.
Our Members are hospitals and healthcare organisations worldwide, who have direct involvement in the provision of care. We provide our Members with a platform for the exchange of knowledge, unique opportunities for global collaborations with different actors in the health sector and access to an extensive network of healthcare leaders.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Programme Lead to join a team of professionals working together to run and grow a global healthcare NGO.
Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO of the International Hospital Federation, the Programme Lead will be a key part of the IHF Secretariat, delivering a high-quality portfolio of programmes and activities. This role requires an enthusiastic candidate with excellent organisation skills, relevant experience in stakeholder management and a ‘can do’ attitude. The postholder will work with a range of colleagues within the IHF and externally across the organisation’s global community to deliver effective programme management.
Responsibilities
The post holder will develop and manage a portfolio of international programmes and projects, focused on special interest areas for the IHF (e.g., virtual care, female leadership in healthcare, harnessing big data). The outputs of these programmes will focus on knowledge creation and exchange to support the IHF’s Members realise their ambitions of improving patient care and societal health.
Specific assignments include:
IHF Special Interest Groups
- Managing a series of thematic ‘Special Interest Groups’ (SIGs) on topics of interest to IHF Members (responsibilities include developing detailed work-plans and leading the SIG’s activities on a workaday basis).
- Building and maintaining practical ways of sharing knowledge and learning products from the IHF’s SIGs across the IHF’s global community, using a variety of methodologies (including an event at the annual IHF World Hospital Congress.).
IHF Women in Leadership Forum
- Growing the identity and activities of the IHF’s Women in Leadership (WLF) Forum, so it becomes a globally recognised and respected collaborative platform for senior female leaders.
- Developing activity workplans focused on the creation of exclusive thought leadership content, virtual masterclasses, and networking events, including a workshop event at the annual IHF World Hospital Congress.
Programme Management and Governance
- Managing the development and publication of the IHF’s annual activity report.
- Coordinating organisational performance reviews for the IHF on a quarterly basis.
- Providing leadership for IHF staff contributing to programmatic work, in line with specialist skills or competencies.
Profile Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Be educated to Masters’ level and have several years’ experience in a similar position with established programme management skills, including managing multiple deliverables from start to finish and delivering to tight deadlines.
- Have professional experience in a healthcare delivery organisation (e.g., a hospital system) or good working knowledge of healthcare delivery related issues.
- Be a skilled communicator and presenter, with a developed ability to confidently engage with a range of stakeholders, at all organisational levels from across different international settings.
- Hold an excellent command of Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) as well as specialist communication platforms (for example, Hootsuite, etc).
- Ability to work remotely, blending in-person and virtual approaches as required.
- Be a native or fluent English speaker (C1 level) with excellent oral and writing skills (the operating language of IHF is English).
Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate these competencies at interview and/or in an assessment.
