General Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fundraising Manager is responsible for ensuring that donors support The Hepatitis Fund. She/he focuses on relationship building with new donors from foundations, governments, IOs and HNWI.

The Fundraising Manager, in their capacity as lead of fundraising, will take an active role in designing and implementing fundraising processes and strategies across The Hepatitis Fund. This encompasses developing a plan of action supporting the current strategy of The Hepatitis Fund through raising funds to enable us to meet our strategic goals for the next five years.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specifically, the incumbent will:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships, engage, and solicit potential donors from a portfolio of businesses, high net-worth individuals, governments and philanthropic organizations
  • Research prospective donors capable of leadership donations, map their networks, gain insight into their beliefs and motivations to give
  • Write quality proposals and budgets, with content support from the Programme and Partnership team. Create strong fundraising messages and materials that appeals to potential donors
  • Develop an annual business and foundations relations plan that includes measurable goals, metrics and specific strategies for expanding both levels and sources of support
  • Maintain records of donors and manage regular donor communications, including reporting
  • Analyze the performance of fundraising activities for effectiveness and to identify areas of highest interest/ highest revenue from donors
  • Gather and share information about giving trends in businesses and philanthropic foundations
  • Explore and create innovative methods for fundraising and new revenue opportunities, including donor-advised and donor-directed funds
  • Ensure compliance of all fundraising activities with laws, policies, goals and procedures

Skills and competencies:

  • A minimum of 10 years working in fundraising with a successful track record focused on corporates, high net-worth individuals, and foundations
  • Demonstrated success managing a high-level donor portfolio, soliciting, and closing major gifts, and building relationships with existing and new donors
  • Extensive network of potential donors especially with businesses, high net-worth individuals, and philanthropic organizations
  • Outstanding written communication skills to prepare wide range of proposals. marketing materials, reports, slide decks, flyers, emails, invitations
  • Expert level skills in making persuasive and compelling presentations of goals, objectives, and impact of The Hepatitis Fund in order to engage donors and secure gifts
  • Understanding of the global health landscape, health philanthropy and its main stakeholders
  • Able to work independently. Ability to assume end to end responsibility for donation process and contracts
  • Demonstrates solid analytical & critical thinking, effective decision making and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution
  • Able to leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build bridges and collaborative relationships within an international and multicultural team
