Description
The Bulan Institute is looking for two MA students to work as a Research intern and be a part of the research team working on a series of publications on state policies to deal with returning foreign fighters from Syria and Iraq. It is a part-time (30%) and unpaid internship.
Key responsibilities include:
-Assist in the drafting, reviewing and editing of publications in English;
-Carry out targeted background research on the current state policies to deal with former ISIS fighters in Northeast Syria and Iraq;
- Assist in the drafting and editing the compendium of good practices of rehabilitation and reintegration of ISIS-linked women and children;
-Perform other tasks as required.
Requirements:
-Current students of Master programs preferably in political science, international affairs, security studies, human rights, development studies, or similar;
-Strong interest in security, peacebuilding, and human rights;
-Good knowledge of religious extremism and terrorism-related issues and the current situation with ISIS associates in northeast Syria;
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English and demonstrated ability to review and edit texts for high-quality academic publications;
-Russian or German skills are preferable;
-Strong organizational and communication skills.
