Context & Mission

As part of MSF CH's new fundraising strategy, one team is focusing on the acquisition of regular donors (ARD). The head of Regular Donor Acquisition (RDA) leads one of the 8 units of the Communication and Fundraising Department. The RDA unit includes all activities related to regular donor acquisition, including Face-to-Face (in-house and agency recruitment programs) and Door-to-Door (door-to-door recruitment programs).

The Head of unit develops, recommends and implements the strategy, the annual action plan and the budget of the unit. With his/her team, he/she is responsible for the preparation, implementation and analysis of regular donor recruitment campaigns, with an emphasis on integration between all techniques.

The Regular Donor Acquisition Manager reports to the Deputy Director of Communications and Fundraising. He/she works in collaboration with the one-to-many Fundraising unit, which is responsible for donor fidelization and the acquisition of one-off donors, and in liaison with the Digital Engagement unit to promote integrated actions (online-offline). At the request of the Deputy Director, he/she takes charge of any specific project.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the definition of the regular donor acquisition strategy

  • Develop, recommend and implement the strategy and budget for MSF's regular donor acquisition.
  • Determine the priority projects according to this strategy and in line with the association's main orientations.
  • Define the action plan and ensure budgetary follow-up.
  • Develop and implement the innovation strategy for the existing acquisition channels (F2F "in-house"/agency and D2D) by managing the relationship with external partners (agencies in particular).
  • Actively participate in the development of the strategic plan for the acquisition of regular donors.
  • Develop and expand new channels for acquiring regular donors
  • As part of the sharing of good practices, participate in the working groups within the collection platforms of the MSF international movement.
  • Be actively present in external networks (i.e. Swissfundraising)

Manage your team hierarchically

  • Recruiting, coaching, advising, supporting, motivating, listening to your team and developing the skills of employees working under your responsibility.
  • Set directions, define objectives, evaluate results and the quality of work of its employees.
  • Ensures the team's contribution to cross-departmental projects/work.
  • Initiate and facilitate internal meetings of the unit in order to instill a team spirit between the linguistic regions and to harmonize practices.
  • Alert management to any problems encountered by the unit and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Systems Manager to ensure proper use of forms in the Donor Relationship Management System (DREAM) and data quality.
  • Develop procedures and best practices to supervise and professionalize the activity of "in-house" F2F.
  • Develop and adapt HR policies for F2F teams and coach the office team to ensure compliance

Be responsible for fundraising projects

  • Independently carry out the projects in the action plan.
  • Oversee the regular donor acquisition campaigns conducted by his team.
  • Set up project groups and define the specifications.
  • Monitoring of service providers and development of content and team materials

Be responsible for the analysis and monitoring of its activity

  • Participate, in consultation with the background research analyst, in the continuous development of monitoring and reporting tools for its activity, and in the monitoring of statistics.
  • Analyze your field to advocate for strategy and policy.
  • Contribute to the development of transversality and the sharing of good practices:
    • Share information and knowledge, develop the ability to work with other units of the Communication and Fundraising Department as well as the rest of the office in the management of cross-cutting projects and in the promotion of good practices.
    • Promote cross-functional exchanges with other collection teams.

Maintain a watch

  • Monitor best practices in the field of regular donor acquisition and promote innovations.
  • Keep abreast of the actions of other organizations and current events to optimize the implementation of campaigns or fundraising events.
  • Keep up to date with new fundraising techniques to have innovative practices in Switzerland.

Other

  • Participate in department meetings and projects.
  • Participate in international meetings related to its activity.
  • At the request of the Assistant Director, take charge of any specific project.

Your Profile

Education

  • University level or other advanced studies in the fields of marketing, communication or project management.

Experience

  • Experience in running internal face to face campaigns in the humanitarian sector or in sales force management is essential.
  • Significant experience in team management.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects.
  • Strong understanding of and interest in humanitarian issues.

Languages

  • Perfect command (reading, writing and speaking) of two of the three languages (French, German, English). Mastery of all three languages is a real asset.
  • Italian is an asset.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
  • Open-ended contract
  • Working place : Geneva,
  • Ideal start date: March 1st, 2023
  • Gross annual salary: from CHF 116’449.- to CHF130’657.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
