BACKGROUND

The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an international, nongovernmental organization serving and protecting uprooted people – refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants – regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality. ICMC also advocates at the national and international level for durable solutions to migration-related problems and aims to work all the way to the grass-root and community level, thanks to a worldwide network of member Catholic Bishops’ Conferences. ICMC aims improve the lives of people on the move around the world.

JOB PURPOSE

This ICMC post has been opened to provide support to the Secretary General’s Office.

The post holder will be part of an international team at the ICMC Headquarters in Geneva, working directly with the Coordinator for Member relations and of the Secretary General’s Office. She/he will work in a collegial and highly dynamic atmosphere and act as an organizational support to the Secretary General and his team at Headquarters.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Administrative Assistant to the Secretary General's Office will be tasked with administrative and organizational functions, including:

  • Maintain the ICMC contact database of ICMC members, in conjunction with the Coordinator of the Secretary General's Office
  • Facilitate practical logistics for organizing meetings, such as the ICMC Governing Committee and Council meetings, and other online regional meeting with ICMC national members
  • Provide secretarial and word-processing services, including preparation of minutes and other reports for various meetings
  • Organize adequate filing and archiving of documents
  • Perform any other duty as needs arise in the Office, as assigned by the Secretary General and the the Coordinator of the Secretary General's Office. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, and fluency in at least one other official ICMC language (French or Spanish).
  • 2-to-3-year experience in the civil society or humanitarian sector
  • Knowledge of refugee and migrants’ issues is an asset.
