About ALIPH

ALIPH is a Swiss foundation based in Geneva, benefiting from the privileges and immunities of an international organization. As the main global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection of heritage in conflict and post-conflict areas, ALIPH supports concrete projects in the fields of prevention, emergency response and rehabilitation. To fulfill its mission, the foundation requires the financial support of States, foundations and private donors. 

Key responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Finance & Operations and in close cooperation with the Program Finance & Compliance Manager and Project Managers, the Grant Finance Officer will provide financial support through all stages of the granting lifecycle to ensure a proper allocation and use of ALIPH’s funds.

  • As part of the capacity and risk assessment of grant applicants, conduct financial and fiduciary assessments
  • Support project managers in the review of grant budget proposals through the assessment of the validity of financial assumptions and documents supporting planned project activities
  • Support project managers with the review of financial reports including budget/actuals variance analysis and ensure reliability, quality and relevance of the reported financial information
  • Contribute to the coordination of the financial audits of projects with appointed external auditors and to the follow up on their findings and recommendations
  • Contribute to maintaining the record of suspected and confirmed cases of financial leakage
  • Contribute to the maintenance of project-related databases
  • Contribute to the implementation of capacity building activities
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of grant management systems, processes and tools 

Professional skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, audit or related area
  • At least 3 years’ experience in financial management in a grant-making foundation, an international organization, or an international NGO
  • Sound understanding of the financial management of development and/or heritage projects
  • Previous experience in program/grant management
  • Rigor and attention to details
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in an international environment
  • A positive and “can-do” attitude
  • Perfectly fluent in English and French. Knowledge of another language would be an asset, especially Arabic.
  • Field experience would be a plus
  • Available to start during fall 2023
