Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The Digital Engagement Unit is one of the 8 units of the Communication and Fundraising Department.

The Digital Content Management Officer is responsible for implementing the editorial line of MSF Switzerland on digital channels, including the website, social media, and newsletters in French and German.

This responsibility includes content writing, multimedia editing, and publishing on the website www.msf.ch.

He/she is also responsible for the technical enhancement of the MSF Switzerland website by collaborating with other departments to define and develop different sections of msf.ch with the web agency and others external partners.

The Digital Content Management Officer is responsible for ensuring consistency of content in French (FR) and German (DE) through the online MSF Switzerland Channel and works daily with the digital team in Zurich.

This position is in charge of improving the audience of msf.ch by leveraging search engine optimization, web and social media analytics, and providing regular reports on achievements against set objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

The Digital Content Management Officer works under the supervision of the Head of the Digital Engagement Unit and requires close and proactive collaboration with the other members of the digital team.

The Digital Content Management Officer serves as focal point between the Operations Communication team and the Digital Engagement Team.

Upon the request of the Head of the Digital unit, he/she can take on specific projects or campaigns related to digital activities.

Responsibilities

Online editorial line

  • Define the editorial line of MSF Switzerland's digital channels in close collaboration with the other members of the digital unit team
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of information on MSF Switzerland’s digital channels

Website

  • Write, produce, and edit multimedia content for msf.ch
  • Coordinate the German and English translations for MSF Switzerland digital platforms
  • Manage and update contents on MSF Switzerland micro-websites
  • Monitor and analyse msf.ch and other MSF Switzerland websites daily
  • Responsible for the technical enhancement of MSF Switzerland websites
  • Coordinate the web agency, the budget and the planning of the msf.ch developments
  • Provide technical support to other departments and units to update and enhance msf.ch

Point of contact

  • Work closely with the ZH digital team to align communication on all digital channels in FR and DE
  • Collaborate closely with the operations communication team of OCG

Support

  • Advise, train and guide the other units of the department in their digital activities
  • Act as a backup with the other digital officer.

General

  • Stay informed about the contexts of the countries where MSF interventions take place.
  • Participates in the development of the annual activity plan of the department.

Your Profile

Education

  • University Degree or equivalent experience in Digital Communications.

Experience

  • 2 years of experiences working in digital communications, preferably in the non-profit environment
  • Demonstrable track record of success in digital communication.

Skills/ Technical competencies

  • Solid knowledge of web content management
  • Deep understanding of SEO
  • Good knowledges of Google Analytics
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledges

Languages

  • Native French speaker
  • Very good knowledge of German (C1)
  • Fluent in English

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in French (mother tongue)
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Good project management, organisation, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Terms of Employment

  • Part-time position 80% (32h/week)
  • Open-ended contract
  • Working place: Geneva
  • Ideal start date: October 2nd, 2023
  • Gross annual salary (for 80%): from CHF 69’206,40 to CHF 79’689,60 (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member
  • Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
