JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Communications Assistant (80 - 100%) at FSD, you will play a pivotal role in implementing our communication strategy and enhancing our outreach efforts, with a focus on website management and digital campaigns. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with prior working experience and robust digital skills to make a meaningful impact in the humanitarian sector. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Website Management: Maintain and update our WordPress (Divi) website. Ensure that content is current, accurate, and optimized for user experience.
- SEO Optimization and Technical Support: In collaboration with our partner external digital agency, implement and maintain SEO best practices to improve website visibility and search engine ranking; troubleshoot and resolve minor IT issues related to website functionality and performance; ensure the website is secure, up-to-date, and running smoothly.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website analytics to track performance, user engagement, and areas for improvement.
- Social Media and Digital Content: Assist in managing and growing our social media presence by creating, scheduling, and posting content. Monitor analytics to assess the effectiveness of digital campaigns.
- Graphic Design: Utilize tools such as Adobe Suite and Canva to create visually appealing flyers, presentations, brochures and other branded material.
- Video: Assist in the creating, editing and publishing of video content on various platforms.
- Event: Help organize public events, and support participation in external events.
- Archiving and Data Management: Organize and archive photos, videos, and other multimedia resources to ensure they are easily accessible for future use.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the communications team, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and handling correspondence.
- Engagement and Collaboration: Actively participate in team meetings and share ideas to improve our communications activities. Collaborate with various departments within the NGO to ensure cohesive messaging and outreach.
- Project Management: Take responsibility for conducting communications projects as assigned and report on their performance.
PROFILE
- Relevant graduate degree (communications, computer science, political science or international relations).
- At least 6 months of work experience in a communications-based position or in an international organisation / NGO.
- Native English or German speaker. Working knowledge of French is a plus. The working language in the office is English.
- Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Suite, Canva, MailChimp, WordPress, Divi, and social media platforms. Basic knowledge of HTML/CS, SEO practices and video editing proficiency a plus.
- Strong writing skills with a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all produced content.
- Capacity to think innovatively and develop engaging content across various digital platforms to effectively communicate FSD's mission and impact.
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing workload effectively to meet project timelines and organizational needs.
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Interest in humanitarian action and commitment to the mission and values of FSD.
- Swiss / EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland.
