MSF OCG is undergoing a significant transformation in its Human Resource function, guided by a comprehensive HR Strategy for 2023-2028, aiming to evolve HR into a strategic partner through major shifts in HR structure, people and capabilities, and information systems. This change reflects the global evolution of the MSF workforce, with an increase in locally hired staff in senior roles and a more geographically diverse internationally mobile staff. Additionally, a focus on evolving staff reward systems underscores a move towards more equitable, transparent, and consistent practices, ensuring MSF is equipped with the global workforce necessary to tackle future humanitarian challenges.

As the Change and Communication Manager, you will be responsible for managing communication and change for our HR projects and initiatives at the OCG level, including international HR projects requiring adaptation at the OCG level. This newly created position will play a pivotal role in supporting our organization through its transformations, requiring a strong capacity for adaptation and a proactive approach to change.

Main Responsibilities

Change management (70%)

In liaison with the HR Transformation Lead, the ICO Focal Point and other Key HR line and projects manager.

  • Stakeholder assessment:
    • Assess key stakeholders' interests, needs, expectations, and concerns for HR transformation and projects.
    • Identify their power, influence, and potential support.
  • Resistance management:
    • Develop resistance management plans with accountable managers.
    • Determine stakeholders' preferred communication channels.
  • Mentoring and training:
    • Mentor HR team members in change management.
    • Collaborate with training to develop training plans and tutorials.
  • Communication and engagement:
    • Organize workshops and events for stakeholders.
    • Build strong relationships with decision-makers and opinion leaders.
    • Create discussion spaces to foster stakeholder participation.
  • Monitoring and evaluation:
    • Develop communication and change management metrics.
    • Collect and analyze data to assess progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting and information sharing:
    • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
    • Support other Change Managers and HR managers in explaining ongoing MSF intersection projects.

Communication (30%)

In liaison with the HR Transformation Lead, the ICO, Rewards Review and DEI Lead, and other Key HR line and projects managers

  • Creates and oversees communication plans for HR department projects and initiatives.
  • Supports the Sponsor and HR managers in participating in HR project platforms and working groups.
  • Facilitates regular communication within the HR Department and to stakeholders regarding project vision and progress.
  • Ensures transparent communication regarding what, why, who, where, when, and how changes will occur.
  • Designs, develops, and manages communication tools such as digital newsletters, videos, and SharePoint.
  • Develops visual communication materials including infographics, illustrations, and PowerPoint presentations.

Your Profile

Education:

  • Tertiary degree in Organisational Development, or in Human Resources, or related field
  • Certified Change Management Practitioner required (Prosci or equivalent)
  • Certification in Project Management a plus
  • Training on managing fears and resistance in project implementation a plus

Skills/ Technical competencies:

  • Advanced expertise in Change Management
  • Excellent knowledge in Project and Change management methodologies and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support and manage change in organisation-wide projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to support staff and managers to navigate resistance and drive cultural change
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to influence others and move towards a common vision and goal
  • Ability to assess proposed change to balance risk with value and to set priorities
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving mindset essential
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to clearly articulate message to a variety of audiences
  • Proficiency in content development about relevant areas
  • Ability to mentor or transfer of competences to others
  • Ability to produce visually appealing presentations, posters, talking points, videos, documents, illustrations, etc.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in change management
  • Experience in transformational or strategic change projects within large organisations and in an evolving environment
  • Experience in working with stakeholders across different seniority levels
  • Experience in supporting an HRIS Program implementation disirable
  • Experience with MSF or a similar organisation desirable
  • Field experience is a plus

Languages:

  • Fluent or working knowledge of both English and French
  • Knowledge of other languages frequently used in MSF is a plus (Spanish, Arabic, Kiswahili, Portuguese)

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
  • Fixed-term contract (48 months)
  • Working place: Geneva
  • Ideal start date: 15 May 2024
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 93'504 to CHF 107’280 (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member
  • Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
