The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is a global centre of expertise established in 1998 to monitor and report on the situation of people who become displaced within their own countries. IDMC curates and analyses data from a wide range of sources, provides insight into the risk, scale, causes and impacts of the phenomenon and supports partners around the world in identifying and implementing solutions to it. IDMC's Global Monitoring and Reporting hub compiles, triangulates and validates data on internal displacement at the national, regional and global levels. It is in charge of the production of country profiles, regional reports and the Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID), that analyse the key trends and developments of internal displacement globally. IDMC\u2019s global monitoring team is divided into three geographic regions: Africa and Middle East; Asia and Pacific; Americas, Europe and Central Asia. The team is now looking for a dynamic, organised, and rigorous Monitoring Expert\u00a0East and Southeast Asia to join the team.<\/p>\r\n
What you will do:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n The monitoring expert will implement IDMC methodologies for monitoring internal displacement related to violence, disasters, and development projects for East and Southeast Asia, and act as the organisation\u2019s focal point for the sub-region.<\/p>\r\n As a monitoring expert you will:<\/p>\r\n What you will bring:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n We are looking for someone with a Master\u2019s degree in international affairs, social sciences, displacement, migration, humanitarian or development studies, information science or related field, and four years of relevant experience in research, data collection and\/or quantitative data analysis.<\/p>\r\n You will have significant knowledge of the geographical region and ideally operational experience working on conflict, disaster, and development in the region. You will also possess strong skills and experience in reviewing large amounts of data to produce concise analytical products. You will be a highly organised and rigorous researcher, with demonstrated ability to organize and identify relevant information, conduct desk reviews of secondary literature, and write in a clear and understandable manner.<\/p>\r\n In addition, you will have:<\/p>\r\n\r\n
