Aroha aims to avert climate chaos by mobilizing actions towards limiting global warming to 1.5\u00baC, enhancing protection of vulnerable communities and ecosystems, and maximizing benefits of the transition to a climate resilient future. Towards these objectives, Aroha operates in partnership with public and private entities across four principal work domains:\r\n\u25cf Policy Shift: Contributing to the development of policies to ensure action consistent with averting climate chaos\r\n\u25cf Financing and Implementation: Contributing to the effective financing and supporting the implementation of actions to avert climate chaos, including through the work of the Financial Future Center (FFC), hosted at Aroha\r\n\u25cf Communications and Partnerships: Contributing to awareness and understanding and developing and sustaining partnerships vital to averting climate chaos\r\n\u25cf Administration: Supporting Aroha\u2019s programs in the policy, financing and implementation, and communications and partnerships domains with effective internal finance and administration systems\r\n\r\nAdditionally, through a dedicated partnership agreement with the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), Managing Partner and secretariat host of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and Vulnerable Twenty Group (V20), Aroha collaborates to deliver advice and support to activities of the CVF and V20, inclusive the domains of policy and analysis, partnerships and communications, events organization and administration.\r\n<h4><strong>Our Values<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nAroha is Cause-obsessed, Imaginative, Fearlessly independent, Team-powered, Open.\r\nOur values are a central part of who we are and how we work. Aroha is an evolving entity and we seek to grow harmoniously by bringing individuals into our team who share the same values.\r\n<h4>Position Purpose<\/h4>\r\nThe purpose of Aroha\u2019s Internship Program is to provide an early professional experience for participating students through active engagement in the daily working life of the global programs of a Geneva-based non-profit organization with collaborations worldwide. The Internship Program benefits the work of Aroha for which participating interns are compensated according to a flat-rate monthly stipend. Under Aroha\u2019s Internship Program, the Program Assistant\/intern will support the work and fulfillment of the mission of Aroha; for this assignment, the Program Assistant will support the work of the Senior Manager of the Financing and\u00a0 Implementation work area.\r\n<h4>Reporting Relationships<\/h4>\r\nThe Senior Manager of the Financing and Implementation work area will direct, supervise and monitor the work of the Program Assistant (Intern). Participants in Aroha\u2019s internship program are expected to also undertake work autonomously in carrying out tasks within the scope of the duties and responsibilities foreseen for each specific internship assignment. Subject to internal\r\nreorganization of Aroha, the supervision arrangement may alter during the course of the internship assignment and the Program Assistant (Intern) will be duly advised in advance.\r\n<h4><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nThe Program Assistant\/intern, under the direction of the Supervisor, will be asked to contribute to a variety of tasks within the assigned team, which will include those among the following:\r\n\r\n\u25cf Support the development, drafting and\/or review of diverse work documents (concept notes, event documents such as programs\/agendas, presentations, donor reports and proposals etc.) and communications (web and social posts, correspondence, emails, newsletters, press releases, verbal notes, etc.);\r\n\u25cf Support the organization of events and programmatic activities in terms of logistics (room\/venue and transport arrangements, hospitality, A\/V setup etc.), organization(developing, issuing and following-up on invitations for participation confirmations; contacting and supporting speakers\/panelists etc.) and in substantive terms (i.e. development of document packages, minutes\/note-taking, contacting and updating program partners etc.);\r\n\u25cf Arranging, scheduling, participating, note-taking and other support for internal meetings and activities and external meetings\/events of relevance to Aroha\u2019s work;\r\n\u25cf Research and data support, including online and desk research, data collection and entry, literature review and analysis, etc.;\r\n\u25cf Communications including web editorial tasks and publishing and contributing to online social media publishing, network management and social asset creation;\r\n\u25cf Support for document management, including editing and proofreading, translation, filing, scanning, printing, copying cloud drive organization, sharing of documents internally\/to partners, etc.;\r\n\u25cf Support for completing internal administration\/procurement\/personnel documents as relevant, including administrative forms, canvassing of market offers, expenses claims etc.;\r\n\u25cf Contribute to internal coordination and communication between and across teams;\r\n\u25cf Other programmatic, communications, organizational or administrative tasks that may be assigned ad hoc by the Supervisor.\r\nAdditionally, the Program Assistant (Intern) may be requested to perform any other relevant tasks of an organizational or substantive nature as directed by the supervisor according to evolving Aroha programmatic and project needs.\r\n<h4><strong>Profile<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nEducation\/Enrolment Status\r\nCurrently enrolled in relevant studies in a master\u2019s level program; holding a relevant master\u2019s degree and pursuing an internship as a requirement to start a new program (must be attested by the concerned training institute); or in certain cases, holding a relevant master\u2019s degree and pursuing a professional\/social reintegration internship falling under a federal or cantonal legal authority. Relevant studies include: International Affairs\/Relations, International Development Studies, Public Policy, Human Rights, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Migration or related fields. In line with the internship regulations in effect in the canton of Geneva, student participants shall take part in the internship program as part of their studies, or as a precondition to enter a program. An agreement shall be signed between the student, the university and Aroha, covering the entire duration of the internship. Professional or social reinsertion internships must fall under a federal or cantonal legal authority.\r\n<h4>Experience<\/h4>\r\nPrevious work experience or demonstrated interest in non-profit operations or in sustainable development, migration, climate change and\/or environmental protection policy projects. Experience in an international organization, the nonprofit sector and\/or working in or with least developed countries is an asset.\r\n<h4>Competencies, Skills &amp; Languages<\/h4>\r\n\u25cf Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite;\r\n\u25cf Strong organizational skills, including the ability to identify clear objectives, prioritize\r\neffectively, and use time efficiently;\r\n\u25cf Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;\r\n\u25cf Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, as well as individually;\r\n\u25cf Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;\r\n\u25cf Native proficiency in English is required, and the ability to communicate professionally in French and\/or in a UN language is an asset.\r\n<h4><strong>Other<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nContract Duration\r\nThe initial contract duration stated in the Summary section may be subject to extension, although any extension is dependent on work performance, program needs, available finance and other factors. Aroha internships are of a minimum of 2 months in duration and may be extended up to a maximum of 12 months, working on an occupation rate basis of 80%.\r\n\r\nWorking Hours &amp; Modalities\r\n80% working basis of 32 gross working hours, divided into 4 days of 8 hours (unless otherwise agreed with the Supervisor). Any other working basis is subject to a separate agreement with Aroha. The Program Assistant (Intern) may generally work 3 of the 4 working days remote\/from home and 1-2 days at Aroha\u2019s office (subject to agreement with the Supervisor). The Program Assistant (Intern) is expected to work during Aroha core business hours of 10am \u20134pm.\r\n\r\nTrial period\r\nThe employment arrangement is subject to an initial 2 weeks trial period, during which time either party may decide to freely discontinue the agreement with 7 days\u2019 notice.\r\n\r\nCompensation\r\nUnder Aroha\u2019s internship program a stipend of CHF 1,000 per month is provided (total monthly compensation for an 80% basis).\r\nA contribution to mandatory Swiss\/Geneva social security insurance is partially deducted from the stipend amount while Aroha also assumes the cost of a share of these charges over-and-above the stipend amount.\r\n\r\nAccommodation &amp; Travel\r\nParticipants must also arrange for their own accommodation. Program Assistants do not normally travel but may be required to conduct work at locations around Geneva outside of Aroha offices. Aroha does not cover transportation-related expenses to\/from Geneva for deployment, nor to and from Aroha\u2019s office and ordinary places of conference\/meetings\/ operational activities, except for authorized official missions, in which case Aroha travel rules apply.\r\n\r\nOther Requirements\r\nParticipants must ensure they have medical insurance valid for Switzerland, as this is not covered by Aroha.
