About Action for Development (AfD)<\/b><\/h3>\r\nAction for Development is an NGO with offices in Geneva Switzerland and Kabul Afghanistan.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nAfD aims to ensure that funding for health and community development programs are spent in ways that maximize its impact, partnering with local organizations at the grass roots level.\u00a0 The main focus areas of our programs are strategic health facilities management, maternal, neonatal and child health services expansion, family planning, water, sanitation and hygiene, women's empowerment, capacity building and education. In 2014, AfD was granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).<\/span>\r\n

Responsibilities of the Finance Officer<\/b><\/h4>\r\nThe Finance Officer will be responsible for the recording of all financial information and for the correct allocation of expenses to project budgets. They will be responsible for keeping financial records filed correctly, and present and provide financial data for projects and presentations.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nS<\/b>pecific activities:<\/b>\r\n
    \r\n \t
  • Monitor project costs and liaise with project leads, ensuring all financial information is recorded in a timely and accurate manner, allocated to the correct project expense budget and recorded in such a way as to alleviate problems with closing out the financial year and finalizing the annual audit report.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Preparation of financial statements, year-end closing, budgeting and ad-hoc financial reports.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Record and analyse and financial data:\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  • analyse budget information, prepare and consolidate estimates and supporting data in relation to budget forecasts, financial performance reports.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Assist and collaborate with project proposal preparation, by bringing ideas, proof-reading and\/or assisting with translation to or from English.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Participation in other projects such as proposal submission or fundraising, where required.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Required Qualifications<\/b><\/h4>\r\n
      \r\n \t
    • Degree in Finance, Accounting or a similar finance qualification, with a minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience with international organizations, international postings, or managing projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
    • Excellent skills in Excel and reporting.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
    • Fluent in English both written and spoken. French would be an asset.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
    • Detail orientated, good organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

      Terms of the Contract:<\/b><\/h4>\r\n

      • Please note that this is an unpaid part-time volunteer position\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
      • Time Commitment: minimum of one day per week, either working in the office or remotely. The candidate should ideally be based in Geneva.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
