Description
Action for Development (Act4Dev) is a small NGO with offices in Geneva, Switzerland and Kabul, Afghanistan. Our purpose is to promote and improve health and education outcomes for women and girls in Afghanistan. In 2014, AfD was granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Our team in Geneva provides health, education and emergency response programme management as well as fund-raising capacity to secure necessary investment to support our local field office in Kabul and local communities served across provinces of Afghanistan.
Responsibilities of the Nutrition Project Officer
The Nutrition Project Officer will work on a public health and nutrition portfolio and will be primarily responsible for nutrition programme development and fund-raising.
Specific activities:
- Assist with development of nutrition strategy as dependent on local needs and local priorities for programming
- Work in a team to secure funding for nutrition related projects
- Engage in partnership and stakeholder development with potential donors and partners
- In collaboration with the team lead and Health Unit develop assessments, design, implementation and monitor nutrition focused projects as part of an organisational health programme
- Support the organisation in setting up evaluation of effectiveness of nutrition projects (short and long term) and community nutrition outcomes as part of a rolling approach to needs assessment
- Serve as a focal-point in communications with the Health Team for all nutrition related projects as part of the health programme
- Report regularly to the CEO and management team in a timely manner
- Assist by providing data for Concept Notes and Grant Applications as requested.
- Assist with drafting Concept notes and proposals when and if necessary.
- Participate in AfD special projects if asked.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Nutrition (strongly preferred) or a degree in Public Health and or related field
- 3-5 years experience working in a similar role
- Project Management experience
- Competent user of MS Office and Google Workspace
- Personal skills focus on someone who is detail orientated, organised, and able to work independently
- Strong skills in English and French both written and oral
Terms of the Contract:
- Please note that this is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position.
- Time Commitment: minimum of one and half day per week. One day per week presence at the office. The candidate should ideally be based in Geneva.
