About ALIPH
The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) is a Swiss law foundation based in Geneva, benefiting from the privileges and immunities of an international organization. The main global fund dedicated to the protection of heritage in conflict, post-conflict, or crisis zones, ALIPH supports those who, on the ground, take concrete measures to protect or restore museums, sites, monuments, or intangible heritage, in the most challenging contexts. Since its creation in Geneva in 2017, ALIPH has supported 550 projects in over 50 countries. The Foundation carries out its mission thanks to the support of its nine member states (France, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, Morocco, Luxembourg, Cyprus, and Uzbekistan), its three private donors, as well as about a dozen other funding partners.
Context
As part of a funding from the European Union, ALIPH is launching the implementation of around twenty projects in Central Asia, specifically in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, with a total budget of approximately EUR 1 million.
ALIPH is looking for a part-time consultant to support financial assessment, distribution and monitoring of the funds, as well as reporting to the European Union and other potential donors.
Key responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Conduct financial and fiduciary assessments of grant applicants;
- Assist the ALIPH team in translating grant agreements into Russian;
- Review and analyze financial reports on projects, including supporting financial documentation;
- Support the preparation of financial reports to the European Union;
- Coordinate the financial audit of the EU-funded Central Asia program with appointed external auditors and follow up on their findings and recommendations;
- Contribute to the maintenance and updating of project databases;
- Update project management tools.
On a daily basis, the consultant will work in close cooperation with the Grant Finance Officers, Project Managers, the Programs Director and the Director of Finance and Operations.
Professional skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or other related area;
- Solid experience in program and/or grant management, including financial management and compliance;
- Fluency in Russian and English. Knowledge of a Central Asian language as well as French would a solid advantage;
- Experience in managing and reporting on EU-funded projects would be an asset;
- Knowledge of a relevant field (cultural heritage, culture) would be an advantage;
- Rigorous attention to detail and tenacity;
- Solid skills in Excel;
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Availability as soon as possible but no later than 1 November 2025
Type of contract: 12 months consultancy.
Level of effort: at least 50%.
